Many circuits, esp. opamps look like a high impedance when unpowered. So with the "other" unit off, it is for all intents and purposes electrically invisible....

Yeah, the AMA is The Bomb when it comes to tone and distortion. It is in my chain too and does wonders not only to the tone of my XK3C, but also my GEM RPX....
