Hi Hans.

Wow, now that's stylish!

There's a lot of that stuff that puts me in mind of Level 42, of which I'm a big
fan.

Cheers
Darren

I use Omnisphere on a computer with a 2.4GHz Core2 Duo so your
processor and I/O bus speed should handily beat mine.

The memory issue is less about Omnisphere per se and more about
whether you use a *lot* of sample-heavy instruments since Omnisphere
streams samples from disk to reduce memory impact.

I have 4GB and the only instrument I've blown out my memory with is
Kontakt while loading some very big sampled instruments.

Hi folks.

I've taken a look at the system requirements for Omnisphere, and couldn't
work out if my system will run it. I think this is the relevant info...

Core i7 920 2.66ghz 8mb
3GB DDR3 1333 OCZ Tripple channel

I kind of understand the numbers, but not confidently enough to upgrade
without confirmation.

Disc space isn't an issue, the main drive is 300gb and I have 2 500gb data
drives for libraries and projects.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Darren

I don't own Omnisphere but have both Sib 5 and 6. Sib 5 has been adapted
for the blind while Sib 6 has not yet been adapted. This is on Windows
only. Hope someday Sibelius will work in Voiceover on the Mac.

Both Sibelius 5 and 6 (although I rarely use Sib 5 anymore, Sib 6 has
everything that 5 had and much more). Omnisphere should run fine in Sib 5 as
well although I haven't yet tried that.

I'm running Logic 9 on a mid 07 24" imac (C2D 2.8) Leopard and have had no
performance issues even running almost 40 tracks with effects. I have not
updated to Snow Leopard yet. I can only imagine that the new imacs esp the
quad-core is nothing short of amazing.
BTW you can also run a second monitor on an imac as well

We're pretty rigorous about testing the performance of Omnisphere
in every release and our tests show that performance is slightly
improved in 1.1 compared to 1.0.4. If you've got a patch that is
giving you trouble though, it might be something like you're using
it in a song which requires more RAM than when you've used it
before. If you need help figuring it out though, send it along to
tech support and they'll help you with it.

Anecdotally, yes I am.

I use Logic 9.0.2 on a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM, OSX 10.6.2.

Prior to the 1.1.3c I knew Omnisphere was one of my heavier
instruments but it never seemed to present much of a problem even with
5-6 parts loaded.

Since the 1.1.3c update I notice a few times that adding even a
single-part Omnisphere the CPU meter seems higher and I get more
spikes into the red & overload errors.

This is just my naive observations though, I've not had time to do any
systematic testing yet.

Matt.

Something that you and Darren might want to consider if you are Mac
   based is ClickToFlash:

   http://rentzsch. <http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/>
   github.com/clicktoflash/

This is a Safari plugin that can be used to disable certain uses of
Flash (although you can also whitelist sites where you want flash to
   work).

However the reason I suggest it is that it also has an option to
replace Flash video players with an equivalent QuickTime player. I'm
just guessing but it's possible that the QuickTime player - as a
standard MacOSX component - would be ScreenReader compatible.

Vimeo is a Flash based video site and, so far as I can see, the play
button is only within the flash widget itself which is, I guess, a
black box to your screenreader.

However if you add ?autoplay=1 (that's "question mark autoplay equals
1") to the end of a Vimeo video page URL it will autoplay for you, so
in this case you want:

http://vimeo. <http://vimeo. <http://vimeo.com/7559518?autoplay=1>
com/7559518?autoplay=1> com/7559518?autoplay=1

Regards.

Something that you and Darren might want to consider if you are Mac
based is ClickToFlash:

http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/

This is a Safari plugin that can be used to disable certain uses of
Flash (although you can also whitelist sites where you want flash to
work).

However the reason I suggest it is that it also has an option to
replace Flash video players with an equivalent QuickTime player. I'm
just guessing but it's possible that the QuickTime player - as a
standard MacOSX component - would be ScreenReader compatible.

Oh, by the way, jBridge is a windows application which allows 64 bit plugins
to be run in a 32 bit sequencer and vice versa, without memory limitations
other than the built in RAM of your computer. That way I can run a full
symphonic orchestra with keyswitched instruments using the 64 bit Play
plugin in Sibelius (which is a 32 bit application).

You're not really passing that parameter to the flash player but to
the page that's embedding it. It so happens that Vimeo have choosen to
pass on the parameter to the embedded player but other sites may not,
or may use a different parameter name.

That said, it wouldn't stop me trying it on other sites :)

YES! Changing screensets is now fast. I'm over the moon.

Previously it was quite slow, and I was thinking about buying extra
monitor(s) to avoid switching too much. Now I guess I can spend the money

Hi, I'm new here!

I have a problem...I was aggregating sounds for my next project and I tagged
them all "FF", an abbreviation for my project. Bad idea. When I search for FF,
I'm of course getting anything that has FF in the name/tag/etc so I get far more
than the ones I tagged. Is there any way to search for tag only? Is there a way
I can safely rename my FF tag so that all the ones I tagged will have new name?
Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you Darren
Thats a patch that i made by stacking the Chapman Stick sustains with the
Laboriel 8 String bass.
I applied a bit of FM and filter and some effects.
Makes a great polysound.
Actually i am having a ball right now making all kinds of nonbass sounds with
Trilian.
Sofar thats the only part that i found was kinda lacking from the corelibrary.
No shortage of great bass sounds for sure!

What's doing the chimey piano type sound that runs all the way through it,

yep-thats the Jaco.
Still my favourite fretless sample out there. Nothing else comes close.
That said-i do like the new Fretless Expressivo in Trilian that was made out of
the classic Marcus Miller Bass Legends samples.

And thanks for your kind words of course!
