Hey Everyone,
on the patch Boomerang Piano, layer B, i'm trying to move the sample start
earlier. The slider for that layer is all the way to the right already, but
regardless, it doesn't change sound at all when moving it.

does anyone know how i could change the sample start for this layer,

thanks!

Spectrasonics Discussion GroupGood morning everyone:

I am little confused - I upgraded to the latest version of Omnisphere (sound
patches and software), but I can't see the Orb anywhere. Is it in a special
screen, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Choose your patch, close the browser, then see the second tab line right below

Thanks for the responses!! My iPad comes tomorrow and I'll give TouchOSC a
spin. Definitely looking forward to TR! Wish the iPad came last week when
I had a gig where I was using the orb. Always a next time...

You can change the ram settings in Trilian. I assume there are the same in
Omnisphere.
A lack of ram can be balanced out by adding extra drives.

Another brilliant opportunity is Vienna Ensemble Pro (VSL).

It's the only way to connect PCs and Macs together,
the Mac being slave audio or master, whichever you like.

For the moment I have a Mac Pro (8 core 2008) as the master, with
Cubase and two audio-slaves: a MacBookPro (for Trilian, Komplete 7 etc...)
and a PC with some rather old applets as Kontakt 3, Virtual Sampler etc...

A lot of applets are recognized, it's rock solid, no noticeable latency,
it's perfect !

Before I got it, I found this kind of applet was unnecessary, all my money
was for buying new sounds, instruments etc...but now I've changed my mind.

The day my Mac Pro will be too weak I'll add another slave, a PC I'll
assemble and that's all.

Please excuse me if this has already been beat to death - I checked the search
feature but didn't find anything.

I've been using a Mac Pro with Tiger (10.4.11) forever, because I hate to change
anything as long as it's working. Now it has come to the point where there are
too many updates/upgrades of several applications that no longer support Tiger,
so I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade to either Leopard (10.5) or
Snow Leopard (10.6).

I have heard that there are problems with the stability of Snow Leopard, so I'm
just wondering if I might be better off with Leopard.
Any help would be gratly appreciated.

My 2 main applications are Logic Pro (with all the Spectrasonics titles) and
Photoshop CS3.

Thanks,
Ken

I've been using Snow Leopard and Logic Pro for a couple of years with very
few problems. Once in a while Logic crashes, but I'm sure that's Logic's
problem.

What sort of stability problems have you (or anyone else on this list) heard
of on Snow Leopard?

My design office upgrades regularly and PS CS3 is no less stable on snow leopard
than on previous OSes in my experience. Now PS CS5 has some issues, but they're
not OS-related as far as I know

"Lion" is expected this summer (as early as June, possibily) so Snow Leopard
should be VERY mature at this point. Plus, Logic is an Apple product, and
Specrasonics is generally Logic-centric (if they lean any particular direction).
So I think you're safe to upgrade. Best of luck!!

One thing I know from experience: a bad stick of RAM will cause 100% of your
crashes if you're unlucky enough to get one. :(

I get infrequent but intermittent crashes using Logic's Transform Window on
perfectly-formed SMF files, many of them generated by Logic itself. After
resuming the Project Logic doesn't have a problem the next time I Transform
them exactly the same way.

Although I primarily run Leopard rather then SL (same reason as
yours), from my professional experience Snow Leopard is just Leopard
"Pro", which is why the update is pennies on the dollar.

Snow Leoopard is the majority OS now - Mac users update very
consistently, in contrast to Windows OS movers - so I would think the
compatibility factor of SL is the same as Leopard. I'd "pounce" on
Snow Leopard and skip Leopard altogether. You aren't going to have problems.

Audio (http://www.ninevoltaudio.com) has been having a 2 for one sale
for the past few weeks I believe...... as RMX fantatics many of us
may know the quality of the work of NVA which to me is of the class
of Spectrasonics with their excellent REX work.....anyway the sale
ends tomorrow........sorry if I didn't mention it before....but at

In short - if you don't have a good reason not to stay with Leopard,
Snow Leopard is stable enough for everyday use in studios. A good reason
to stay on Leopard might be drivers for hardware you use (no drivers at
all or unstable or smth) for example.
