Introduction - D1 Music Network is a total resource for up and coming
bands, musicians and songwriters that are trying to hook-up and
collaborate with other creative sources. Jay Gordon, musician,
engineer, producer, remixes, model and lead singer of ORGY, founded
D1 Music Network in 1999 and it was first called Division One
Records. After having some legal research done Jay's legal advisors
detected that the name had already been spoken for, so after careful
consideration we changed the name and it became D1 Music Network.
Having first hand experience with the struggle to land a recording
contract motivated Jay to develop a universal network that new talent
could use for a very small membership fee. This service will match
artists with potential entertainment attorneys, artist management
companies, booking agents, major record company A&R departments, and
film production companies that show an interest in the project. We
will provide information about copyright forms and potential
performing rights societies!! Artists that have track records, and
have achieved Gold & Platinum Record sales status, will have some
impact on potential A&R representatives that represent major
recording companies and independent record company executives.Every
demo or song that is submitted by a registered member of D1 Music
Network will be reviewed by well known and established artist
managers, booking agents, film production companies that are looking
for songs for inclusion in upcoming projects, publishing companies
and record company A&R departments.D1 will provide a copy of each
review along with the detailed information from each company that the
project was submitted to. D1 members or their designated
representative will have a better idea of where their project is and
if it is under consideration for a possible contract with a major
player in the hard to penetrate music industry. D1 believes this
service is very valuable to new talent that need help finding "good
ears" to listen to the demo with an open mind.

Battle of The Bands - MUSICMATCH, SONAR, WorldStar Entertainment and
D1 MUSIC NETWORK are gearing up for the first round of
The "INTERNATIONAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS" CONTEST!If you are in a band
or know someone who is this could be the chance of a lifetime!
Between the D1 Internet radio station playing your music and D1
partners who will supply plenty of exposure via their newsletters,
between them they reach approximately 12,000,000 people every 2 weeks!
Any genre is welcome to enter the contest and will receive massive
exposure, airplay and very cool prizes from D1, MUSICMATCH and SONAR!
The Battle is open to all D1 pro members. The winners, including
D1's "Artist of the Year", will be chosen by members of the D1
community, including industry professionals, other up and coming
artists and fans.

Battle Of The Bands Rules - The Internet has played a big role in
Orgy's success with over 4,000 fan based web pages and sites
dedicated to Jay and the members of Orgy since 1998. D1 Music Network
will feature in collaboration with WorldStar Entertainment
the "International Battle of the Bands Contest", which will set the
stage for formerly signed and unsigned artist to compete,
Internationally, with other talent. All contestants get the
opportunity to be featured in the contests as long as the listeners
and registered members, who are music fans and the actual record
buying public, vote for them. Each submission will go into a pool of
sound clips anonymously without a name and will be identified by an
entry number. This will insure the highest level of integrity in the
voting choices. The D1 community members will be invited to listen to
the new sound clips and vote on each clip, in the order of their
personal preference. The clips with the most amount of votes will be
placed in the Battle of the Bands competition in the order of the
fans voting preference. Unlike conventional talent contests whose
panelists consists of industry professionals who choose what the
people will buy based on their experience and personal opinion,
wrong, at D1 Music Network the fans and record buying public will
tell the record companies what they want to listen to and buy. Some
really great talent has slipped through the cracks without ever
getting the break they needed to succeed. WorldStar Entertainment
will work closely with D1 Music in a collaborated effort to put all
contenders on the stage and let the listeners decide if they are
going to make it. WorldStar Entertainment will manage the database
and provide an accurate survey and report to each contestant and will
provide this information to perspective record company A&R
representatives that show an interest in signing the artist to their
label for a recording and distributions contract. It's like having
your own marketing company at your disposal.
Most bands start off making their own imprint or label on their CD
demo and we at D1 will provide a merchandising channel for them to
spread the word while selling units to recover their recording costs.
The market place has no boundaries and we hope to assist those
artists who haven't been signed to a major recording company and
haven't been fortunate enough get the exposure they deserve. Please
participate and support our contestants and be sure to order a copy
of the CD's that you like directly from the D1 cool stuff
merchandising section.
We not only believe these contests will produce tomorrows super
bands, we also believe the results from our online surveys conducted
by WorldStar will be a complete introduction to the bands talents and
it will also monitor the impact the band has on its audience. D1
Music has entered into a marketing agreement with WorldStar to
process and manage the D1 database for the upcoming International
Battle of the Bands Contest, provide independent promotions to radio
and press and develop street teams to help promote the Battle of the
Bands contest and promote the winners of each category. The surveys
taken by WorldStar will be linked to a database that will help
potential record companies evaluate the longevity and depth that the
artist has on potential sales, marketing, live touring and the
overall impact and following the band has already established from
the ongoing exposure. We hope to get advance orders to ensure a
record deal.
All contestants interested in entering the Battle of the Bands will
become members of the D1 community and part of the membership fees
will go towards the database management and processing of the survey
reports. These surveys will provide a complete and accurate analysis
of the contestants overall marketing projections.
This is valuable to prospective record company A&R Departments,
Artist Management Companies and Music Publishing Companies.
Any artist that is interested in a real time analysis of how their
image, sound and overall performance is accepted will appreciate the
dedication and hard work that has to be put into compiling this
critical information. It's better to know who, where and how to reach
your best demographic by evaluating their responses. The results of
these surveys will tell you where to target your marketing dollars
when you launch your campaign.
The finals will be connected to live broadcasts from a venue in
whatever towns in the world the finalist come from. We will provide
live broadcasts for members only called "D1 Live Chat". There will be
a series of promotional and pay per view concert broadcasts and as an
extra-added feature for our members who love live music.
Contestants will be competing against bands and solo artists from all
over the world. The contest categories will be Best of: Alternative /
Industrial Rock, Pop Rock, Best Female Singer, Best Male Singer,
Hardcore / Punk, Hip Hop / Rap, and DJ Contest. In the event that one
category gets more submissions than others we will expand the stages
to accommodate more contestants in that particular category. In the
event that we don't get enough contestants in any category listed
above we will exclude or suspend the contest for that category until
we have enough contestants to make the competition a success.
There will be no losers because we plan to have great prizes for all
contestants. The grand prize winner will get a new demo produced with
one of D1's list of well-known producers that have produced hit
records in recent years. D1 will submit the finished product and a
complete survey report leaving nothing to the imagination of
potential A&R representatives that show an interest in signing
contestants from the contests.
Here are the Contests guidelines:
