"The American Led Zeppelin."
Those are tall words, but that is in fact what people were saying about Cactus when this first "Super Group" hit the scene in 1970.  With rockers such as Van Halen, Monster Magnet, Kings X., Billy Sheehan, David Coverdale, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent having been documented in interviews as fans of the loud and proud `70s sensation. Cactus was initially conceived in late 1969 as a supergroup of the Vanilla Fudge rhythm section of bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice with guitarist Jeff Beck and singer Rod Stewart. However, Beck had an automobile accident and Stewart joined Ronnie Wood in the Faces.

So Appice and Bogert brought in blues guitarist Jim McCarty from Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels and The Buddy Miles Express, and singer Rusty Day (born Russell Edward Davidson) from the Amboy Dukes. Later after Rusty Day's passing Jimmy Kunes from Savoy Brown was brought in to fill the spot. It is this line up that has defined what Rock is today.  Check them out at www.cactusrocks.net

Carmine Appice – The definitive Rock drummer! This is the man who started it all! Starting with the super rock group the Vanilla Fudge, Carmine took rock drumming to a new level never heard before. After the Vanilla Fudge broke up Carmine came up with the idea of a supergroup (THE FIRST SUPERGROUP) and formed Cactus. After  Cactus he teamed up with Friend Tim Bogart and Jeff Beck to form Beck Bogart and Appice one of the all time legendary fusion rock groups! Soon after Carmine started playing with long time friend "Rod Steward" and wrote two of Rod Steward's" greatest hits, "Do you think I'm Sexy" and "Young Turks" !!!

Tim Bogart -  Starting his career as a sax player for the lendendary "Chessman" Tim decided to pick up the bass and together with Mark Stein, Vinnie Martell and Joey Brennen to form the "Pigeons". That group later replaced Joey Brennen with Carmine Appice on drums and the Vanilla Fudge was Born! Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice have defined the Rock rhythm section as no one else in history. It is because of his dynamic playing style that Rock and Roll bass players are what they are today!!

Jim McCarty – Jim started on the scene as the guitar player for Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. A heavy blues based band with hits like "Devil with the Blue Dress on". Later he join Miles Davis's band and played on many of his most famous albums. A good friend of Jimi Hendrix .. he has played many times with Rocks legendary musician!

Jimmy Kunes – Lead singer for the Blues/Rock Band Savoy Brown defined the british invasion. When he saw the chance to work with Carmine, Tim and Jim,  Jimmy Kunes jumped at the chance! His smooth soulfull blues vocals are the perfect compliment to the heavy hard edged style of Carmine, Tim and Jim.

Cactus is back and the party begins at the CRAZY DONKEY June 14!
