I was quite disappointed with how the new one sounds too. I'll still buy it, as I think most of the songs are still pretty cool, but definitely not up to SW standards. Still better than most of the crap on the radio today (except tracks 5 and 6--those are as bad as any crap on the radio today). But it definitely sounds nothing like SW. So Far Away does, which is definitely the first single so they can get the old SW fans to buy the album, then all the other singles go to get the standard radio rock crowd to buy. On the whole album, the only other song apart from SFA that sounds like SW is Television, and that's just 'cause Chris sings it like So Wrong (and when the song first gets heavy, the music and singing sound EXACTLY like VAST's Gates of Rock and Roll). The other songs are defintely an attempt at getting in with the top 40 crowd (basically 0 keyboards, lyrics like "Your kisses, sweet kisses," and acoustic guitars galore), but it's still Stabbing writing the stuff, so there are some cool melodies and stuff.
I was quite disappointed with Depeche Mode as well. I don't buy cds for background music, I buy them to actually listen to. Ugh.

Heard a pre-release copy of the album and it is awful by SW standards. Fears confirmed in that a lot of the most interesting aspects of the band sonically, have been shelved in favour of acoustic driven power balladry. Between the new SW and the new Depeche Mode, it's been a bad year for a couple of my favourite bands. This of course, is just my opinion....but I shall not be shelling out cash for crap!Simon--------------------------------------------------------------------
