The album DISTANCES (78'00") represents the debut work by
H.U.V.A. Network, a collaboration between AES Dana (Vincent
Villuis) and Solar Fields (Magnus Birgersson). Their music is a
delicate mix of body rhythms, soothing atmospheres and
expressive sound design - a cerebral soundtrack running from
ceremonial tribal soundscapes to crushing playtime/ravetime
beats. The pacing, placement and slide between these
wonderful themes makes for rewarding listening. Out of the
bubbling pulse of ticking percussion comes a resolution of tricky,
snapping rhythms and slithering, swiveling basslines. The
layers surge forward, rise in complexity, then come to a full halt...
luxuriating in a drifting ambience - the froth of techno's churning.
For use as dream stimulation, mood setting or in filling a
listening space, DISTANCES reverberates in ways beyond the
vision of its inventors.
