STAR'S END Update 09.12.04   Message List

Public Radio is driven by the concept of content diversity and
community enrichment; ideals not well served by the commercial
sector. By concentrating on quality programming, Public Radio
stations lead the audience into areas not considered
commercially viable. If you're a Public Radio listener, you've no
doubt heard many things (music, news, commentary, etc) not
covered or even approached by the more popular commercial
stations - meaningful things that people should know about, but
otherwise would not but for Public Radio. Public stations
maintain this independence through a pact with listeners, as the
more intelligent of these people provide most of the financial
support required for their station's continued operations. This is
how non-commercial radio stations like WXPN are able to
provide interesting music and bold programming that is outside
commercial viability. Every Saturday night since 1976, STAR'S
END has been broadcasting on WXPN. Please do your part to
support STAR'S END, one of the most unique and enduring
radio shows in the world. By pledging during this week's fund
drive show, you'll be supporting STAR'S END and in turn, all of
the musicians and artists who create the wonderful Spacemusic
heard on each week's broadcast.

Tune in to STAR'S END this weekend for the Fundraising
broadcast, including live interviews with artists and special
thank-you gifts for donors.
