FLUX ECHOES (73'26") pulses within the aura of "Ricochet",
"Rubycon" and "Phaedra". With these classics enshrined (along
with an impressive inventory of '70s era instruments) in his
musical core, Brendon Pollard realizes music that melds thirty
year old hopes and dreams with the possibilities of the 21st
century. The four tracks travel from regions of elemental
expressive force and bursts of dazzling sequencer facility to
moments of powerful stillness. This album is full of indulgent
Mellotron pads, glittering synth modulations and throbbing
modular rhythms - and may have listeners imagining their
movement through space, or is it space that is moving through
them? We are always at home in our past, yet Pollard's work
encourages us to hear this music anew. It's exciting to witness a
musician, starting out in an age of digital idea-junkies, make the
medium large again.
Tune in to STAR'S END this weekend for music from Brendan
Pollard and the new release FLUX ECHOES
