Desperadoes Take Pan In The 21st Century
Trinidad - Last night Desperadoes Steel Orchestra won the Pan In The
21st Century competition with their rendition of John Legend's
Ordinary People arranged by master musician Clive Bradley. It was just
one of those performances. The audience seemed to know within the
first 30 seconds that it was going to be special. When it was over the
audience erupted with applause and a partial standing ovation. They

performances and Clive Bradley and Desperadoes had done it again -
with a classic performance and arrangement that will be talked about
for the ages. The love-hate romance that has endured for over 30 years
has again reproduced a gem. Desperadoes beat into second place, this
year's 2005 panorama champion Phase II Pan Groove, who did a version
of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean arranged by the great Len "Boogsie"
Sharpe.
In an exclusive follow-up, Bradley told When Steel Talks that "In all
my experience, I was never called upon to do that type of work,
changing tempos and stuff. The selection (the version I worked from)
was made for that type of thing.
