I was wondering if this group could get going again? Looking at the archives,
there were so many insightful posts on all things steelpan.

We now have so much more available to us. With the advent of social media sites
such as youtube, we have valuable archives of panorama performances, steelpan
groups, and soloists.

Just yesterday I was checking out the 1990 panorama performances of
Fonclaire

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DDF5nQExBg

and

Renegades

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7GUdxOd_YA

which still has people talking after all these years.

What about 2009's panorama? Were Silver Stars the clear winner? Or did Phase
II get robbed?

What about this performance by the Siparia Deltones?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NhxKLATjf8

One commenter stated that if this arrangement came from a different arranger,
and the band came from a "further north location" their placing may have been
higher.

So, can we do this again? Panheads are we still out there?

Ron

Might be worth looking into. All these performances are STILL very controversial. I think that Fonclaire might be able to win today with that performance. ...

Yes. The thing about their performance/arrangement was the speed, execution, and accuracy of the notes....
