Hi group! Question for all NS Boomerang owners: would it be possible
for a left handed player to use one? Would it need to be modified in
some way, or could it be used "as is"? I've searched the message
archives here and read up on the NS site (watched the instructional
video there too), but am still unsure. Also, if the instrument in
question were a custom electric bass (not an upright, cello, etc.)
would it be best to use the standard Boomerang available from NS or
would AndyYak's modified version be ideal? Thanks in advance. :-)

The stock Boomerang has an extended shoulder collar on it that fits
into a matching custom socket on the NS instruments. I don't think
Ned sells those sockets individually. The mods done to these mill off
that collar so it fits flat, and retaps the attachment bolt to an SAE
1/4"-28 thread. Several places online, including McMaster-Carr
(www.mcmaster.com), offer several types of inserts for this thread size.
The Boomerang is ambidextrous. The arms can be swapped or reversed
for your preference. I know one buyer who put the long arm on his
right shoulder as that felt better to him. Another put the short arm
parallel with the floor and bent it to fit his body. He claimed this
mod aloowed it to kind of "grab" his body and hold the bass secure.
You can even shorten the arms if you're really adventurous.
I will offer this - if you buy the Boomerang out and it doesn't work
or you don't like it I'll offer a full refund (minus shipping of
course). Email me offline if you're interested. I've got one
Boomerang left here, but Ned's making up another batch for me as I
write this.
How much are you wanting for the NS boomerang with shipping to Calif.?

Sure, just hijack my thread, trample over me, and buy the last one! ;-)
Seriously though, I don't mind waiting for the next batch. Have at it,
southpadave. After all, you did post before I could get back to my
computer. :-)
OOPS, I am sorry! I was not trying to do that. I did not think you were going to
buy it. You have the right and I will move over as I should. All I was asking
was how much. I will wait as you are first in line. Please forgive my stupidity!
I thought you were only asking if it was left-handed and not wanting to
purchase. SORRY! Dave

Ha! Relax, I was just busting your stones for jumping in. Thanks for
your courtesy. I don't mind at all if you buy it, you might as well as
I won't need it for some time. :-)
Thanx but I already told Andy I was passing so you can have it. It is yours and
hopefully you will follow-thru and not leave him hanging. I really wish you
would have been honest up front rather than ridicule me just to try and rattle
my cage. Andy has informed me it is for you and I agreed to step aside. Enjoy
and if you could please let us others know how you like it. Take care and good
luck with your Boomerang. Very truly yours, southpadave.

Oh my. I was joking and being friendly, but somehow a winking smiley
face icon followed by "seriously though" AND my conceding the last
Boomerang to you didn't help interpret that. You then apologize
profusely, and follow that up by attacking my character multiple
times. I get the feeling that anything I write to you will be
misconstrued, so my replies will end here. If you want to spit any
more venom in my direction, please do so directly and not by posting
messages to the group, as this sort of bickering is counterproductive.
My apologies to those reading who feel this was a waste of their time.
I guess I am bothered because I did NOTHING except ask for a price. You spit the
venom at me which was totally unnecessary. You acted as though I did something
wrong. SO now the boomerang is yours and you are claiming it was all a joke.
Does that mean you are not going to follow through and purchase? Had you been
honest up front I would not feel compelled to explain. Yes now I am bothered as
this is the second time you have attacked me. Are you going to claim this is all
in fun also? I made a mistake and you called me on it which I apologized for.
Now you are trying to back out of the purchase and lay blame on me once again.
Sorry but I can't accept that. DO the right thing and pay Andy as you said.
Forget about me. The joke is on you.

Please take any add'l replies offline and send them directly to each
other if you feel the need to continue this spat.
I've still got the one Boomerang here ready to ship for whomever wants
it. And I've got 8 more on order. Will post here and put an auction
up on eBay for what's left once they arrive.
