Million Musician March for Peace and One Good Housemate   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #210 of 326 |
My regular gig is pre-empted by SXSW this weekend, but I'll be out on Saturday to play for the Million Musician March for Peace. We'll be marking the third anniversary of the tragic invasion of Iraq and adding our voices to the ever-increasing numbers of Americans calling to bring our troops home and rebuild our own country. If you're among them, I invite you to come out Saturday, and if you're a musician, you're invited to bring an instrument. The definition of instruments is very broad, and includes kitchen percussion like pots and pans. What could be more Austin than that? I'll be playing a few songs to warm us up before we start marching, at the Federal Building between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Here are the rest of the details:

The parade route will start at the Federal Bldg. downtown at 9th and Trinity (11:30 assemble time) , head South down Red River, West on 6th, South on Congress, West on 4th, to the new City Hall at Cesar Chavez and Lavaca. There will be a stage and sound. After hearing a couple of short speeches and some music from two or three artists, we might try to all do one song together and be the biggest band in the world. And it will all be recorded.

On another note, my sweetie, Paula Held, is looking for a room to rent. If you might be interested in a housemate, here's her ad:

I'm seeking new temporary digs for a few months as I get more firmly planted here in Austin. I'm working as an on-call massage therapist at the Hilton downtown, playing occasional gigs, and building a small massage practice at home. I'd like to rent a room (or two rooms) while I continue to get settled and look for a house to buy. If you or someone you know is looking for a renter, please let me know. Below are my preferences and what I can offer, and a little of what you can expect from me as a housemate.

Ideally, I'd like to live in or near South Austin. I can pay rent or do a cash/barter arrangement with massage. I have a dog, a 5 year old female Husky, which would require a fenced yard (she's very sweet/low key, and cat friendly). My schedule has me home mostly during the day (except when on-call), and out three or four nights a week. If I'm doing massage out of the house (i.e., renting an additional room), I do a lot of laundry (sheets), so I'm willing to pitch in extra for hot water costs. Massage clients usually book during the day, and some rare evenings. I'd be willing to work it around your schedule.

Preferably I'd like to rent for about 5 months. I give excellent massages. If you have a health issue that needs work, it may be a good arrangement for you to include that as part of the rent. References are available if you need/want them. Thanks for considering me, or passing this along. I can be contacted in any of the ways below.

Sincerely,
Paula Held
