Just in time for cooler temperatures (defined in these parts as anything below 95 Farenheit) I have three cool local gigs coming up this week. Saturday night, Paula and I will be rockin' the house at Junior's Icehouse in downtown Round Rock - if you're not watching the Horns buck the Buckeye's, this is the place to be, and if you are watching - will you please Tivo the game for me?
Monday marks the sad five-year anniversary of 9/11, and I'll be proud to be joining Instruments for Peace at Cafe Caffeine for a concert called Redemption Songs. On a day when none of us want to be alone, join me and some of Austin's finest songwriters, doing our part to turn a national day of mourning into a national day of hope.
And Tuesday, I'll be cutting loose at my favorite north Austin beer joint, B.B. Rover's, joining Buster Gutbucket, a.k.a. David Patrick Dunn on washtub on the breezy patio. You can hear my newest song, about a cowboy who rides into Austin and falls in love with a yoga teacher.
In a final note, for anyone who had our Alice's Restaurant show on their calendar for this Friday, I'm sorry to report the beloved restaurant has closed its doors and is no longer keeping Niederweird. To paraphrase both Mick and Arlo, you can't always get anything you want.
