Wow. Longtime listeners will recall that when I need a myth to describe our dark days, I turn to humble, hairy-footed Frodo Baggins. Tuesday was Frodo's revenge. Not just Frodo, but millions of patriotic hobbits fanned out across the country. They one-upped the Dark Lord's get-out-the-vote operation and set him trembling in his tower. There's lots of work ahead to rebuild our stricken Shire, and many wizardly dirty tricks still to foil. But this week, as I bask in the afterglow of a mission accomplished, I'm reminded of two famous quotes from two famous Republican presidents:
You can't fool all the people all the time.
It's morning in America.
And one great way to celebrate is to get out and hear some fun South Austin folk music. I hope you can make it out to one of my shows - but if you have just one night to go out this week, I recommend Paula Held's first headlining gig at Artz Rib House, next Thursday. I'll be her humble, hairy-footed lead guitar player.
