I try to stay out of all the "Please vote for me or Dick Cheney will shoot you in the face" musical beauty contests. Especially if they involve the Austin Chronicle.
But the Texas Music Awards are a little different for me. They're sponsored by the folks at MyTexasMusic.com. They've been selling Texas CDs online longer than anyone else, but more to the point, they're an ever-expanding family to which I've had the privilege of belonging for six years. So I'd be honored to be nominated for one of this year's awards. As you might have guessed, nominations have to come from my fans.
If you feel so moved, I'd be honored if you went to http://www.texasmusicawards.org/nominate and put my name in nomination before midnight this Friday, Jan. 19. I'm eligible to be nominated in two categories:
* Singer/Songwriter of the Year (I was nominated in '04)
* Entertainer of the Year
Caveat: When you submit a nomination, your email will be added to the subscription list for MTM's Armadillo Ezine, which comes out once a month. You can unsubscribe when you get the first issue. Then again, you might not want to unsubscribe. The Ezine is full of interesting gossip and trivia about Texas songwriters, and you may discover a ton of interesting CDs by artists you haven't heard of.
