Howdy from Kansas - Recording News and Summer Tour   Message List

Howdy, Austin,

For the moment, I can't say I'm not in Kansas. I'm off to parts North
on my summer tour. Already did a church service in Denison, Texas and
three days of old folks' homes in Coffeyville, Kansas. Today, I'm
hanging out in Topeka with former Austin friends Elaine O'Gara and Bob
Shapiro. Tomorrow I head for Davenport, Iowa. So far, my new Saturn
station wagon is running great, and getting much better gas mileage
than I got with my minivan. Maybe I can afford to stay in this
business, after all.

Some of you have asked where I'm playing on this trip, so I'm attaching
my schedule below. If you have friends in any of those cities who would
enjoy some witty Austin folk music, feel free to forward the info to
them. Word-of-Mouth is always the best marketing for folk music.

Lastly, I'm excited to report that I just spent three days in Chris
Gage's studio, laying down the first tracks for a new CD. Courtney
Audain added bass and percussion tracks, and Eddie Cantu banged the
skins on five songs that will rock. This album will be a change of pace
from my recent political CDs. It's going to tap into the more poetic
and personal side of my songwriting, and with Chris at the helm, I'm
expecting glorious results. I will soon be pre-selling copies of the
album to help raise money for the recording - watch this space for more
info. And stay cool.

Steve
If it's Thursday, this must be Topeka
