Before I head to Houston and Galveston for the weekend, here's a note on my next show here in Austin. The last Tuesday evening I played at Mesa Ranch, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. Who knows what could happen this Tuesday?
Latest album update: I spent two more great days with in the studio with Chris this week. We finished laying down my vocals and guitar tracks. We also put down some impromptu rhythm tracks on a new song, "Iowa Wind." On bass was Freebo, who used to play with Bonnie Raitt, with percussion from Courtney Audain, a veteran of Timbuk 3.
"Iowa Wind" will replace the half-recorded song "Johnny and June," a lovely waltz inspired by the love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter. Problem is, a gal from Nashville hit the country charts a couple of months ago with song also inspired by the famous couple, and also titled - you guessed it - "Johnny and June." That's showbiz. If you'd like to help me finish the record before someone has a big hit with another one of my song titles, you can click here.
Proud Citizen of the Obama-Nation,
Steve
