Here's a reminder that I'll be playing a happy hour set tonight at Mesa Ranch. If you're looking to postpone a cold, icy commute until traffic dies down, it's a tasty place to stop, for both food and music.
On a less happy note, many of you have heard by now that Artz Rib House on South Lamar is in danger of closing its doors, due in part to the sudden illness of Art's wife Zee. Artz has supported folk music longer than just about any other venue in town, and Monday nights there are like a songwriters' front porch. Those of us who play there are encouraging acoustic music fans to help out - either by stopping in for a plate of ribs or South Austin tacos, or by mailing a contribution. Every bit helps, and helps to Keep Austin Weird. Checks can be sent to Art Blondin, C/O Rene Britt, P O Box 91092, Austin, TX 78709.
