Yes, it's true. Ten years ago, when I started this email list, I was writing songs for Jim Hightower's radio show and hosting Hyde Park Unplugged, a weekly show in which I got to share the stage with an astonishing array of songwriters and poets, many of them still good friends of mine. I especially cherish the memories of the late Glen Alyn, who started HPU with me in 1996, and Al Grierson, the late poet laureate of Luckenbach.
A decade later, both me and the Deli are still around and still thriving. What's changed is that Greg and Sarah Bontempo have started serving dinner, on top of the best Reubens in town, and gotten a liquor license - and as a result, they're bringing live music back to Central Austin, Thursday through Saturday every week. Oh, yeah, and now they have a sound system, so for a change, I'll be plugged.
So I'll be making a grand return to the New World Deli next Friday night, March 13. Paula Held will be playing with me, and we'll be playing many of the songs from my upcoming CD, which is tentatively titled, "Chasing Grace." As always, you can help the process along and get the record several months ahead of the general public by clicking here to pre-order. This will be a special show for me - I look forward to reliving old times and new music with some of you who used to be regulars. Call it Hyde Park Replugged.
Peace through Music,
Steve
