Wow! What a weekend it was. I'm grateful for all of you who came out to listen, and even more grateful to the many of you who took a CD or two off my hands. I'm just as grateful to Chris Gage, Jeff Tveraas, Gerry Burns and Paula Held for making my songs shine. Not to mention, Danny Santos for sharing the two nights with me and helping to promote them. Kevin Connor at KUT was also great, playing and plugging us two Saturdays in a row. For those who didn't make either show, you can now buy Chasing Grace in person at Waterloo Records or online at www.stevebrooks.net.
I'll be back at Artz Rib House this Thursday. This time, I'll be backing up another of my favorite Austin songwriters, Dave Hooper. I've co-written several songs on Dave's albums, and I've been known to perform his songs "Bluebonnet Spring" and "Mustang" in some of my solo shows. He rarely plays in Austin, so getting to hear an entire evening of his songs will be a treat.
This Friday, I'll be playing a Houston CD release party at JP Hops House, on the west side of town on Highway 6. Backing me up will be the wonderful guitar player and songwriter, Berkalin Records artist Brian Kalinec. If you have friends in Houston who could stand to chase a little grace, please pass the word along, and thanks for your support.
Two of the biggest nights of my career are coming up this weekend, as a year-and-a-half of steady labor and countless leaps of faith come to harvest time.
Friday the 13th will be a double-barrelled night of Texas songwriting, with Danny Santos and I sharing a band and switching off sets every half-hour. Joining me for my sets will be the man himself, Chris Gage. Paula Held, who sang harmony on four songs, will also grace the mike with her presence. I'll also be performing on three of the songs from Danny's album - two of which, we co-wrote.
Saturday night, we'll do it all over again, except that Jeff Tveraas will be slinging guitar in place of Chris, so there will musical fireworks galore. And of course, I'm hoping you'll love the songs so much that you'll leave with a CD or two.
If you can't make it to either show, you can get Chasing Grace at Waterloo Records, or purchase it online at my website, www.stevebrooks.net. And if you see her, say hello...
