According to Herbie, Steve Perry made his band mates
sign an agreement to never re-record the stuff they
did with him with anyone else. What is up with that?
The other guys should have caught on that Perry had
intentions of not returning in the future. If he was,
that would not have been an issue. Here's my
views/opinions:
1. Steve did not write all of the stuff. It was a
band effort. There is no I in band.
2. It would be neat to hear Steve Augeri do the old
hits on CD if they wanted to do it. Lawrence Gowan
did it with Styx. Brian Howe did it with Bad Company.
Jason Scheff did it with Chicago. Augeri would have
some beautiful interpretations of those Journey songs.
3. Mariah Carey did Open Arms. These band mates
cannot do the stuff they did?! That does not seem
right.
4. I think Journey should fight that agreement
because of all the reasons stated.
5. The fans are what matter as well. I am a fan who
would love to hear the new Journey re-record old stuff
if they wanted to do it.
Well, I will leave it at that.
