officers debated how to clean up the city’s rave scene.
	 A group of Christians are one step ahead of them, throwing dance parties
with no drugs, no weapons, no drinking, no smoking, no sexually provocative
clothing and no one being wheeled out on a stretcher.
	 They dance for the glory of God.
	 "Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel.  That
includes the dance culture," says Shana Gray.  Gray volunteers with
StreetBeatz, a website and magazine dedicated to getting the word out about
what Christians are doing in and through raves and dance-parties.
	 "I really believe that as a Christian we need to get involved in every
level of society and entertainment," says Gray.  "We can’t stay back any
longer from the dance culture just because of the evil that is in it.  We
need to get in it and promote the message of Christ within it."
	 Christian evangelism within the rave community is relatively new, according
to Bill Abbott, youth pastor of Willowdale Baptist Church.  "Christ has not
been brought into that arena, not in Toronto at least," he says.  "There’s a
massive group of people in Toronto who are really into the music and we have
a great opportunity to bring Christ to them.  The dance culture needs to be
changed.  Why not God’s people to do it?  Why not use it for our advantage,
and not let Satan win?"
	 Abbott works with Unified Soul, a group that throws clean dance parties at
community centres, churches and even clubs.  These provide a safe scene for
ravers wanting to get away from the drugs and violence of secular clubs, and
are an opportunity to bring non-Christian friends to hear the message of
Christ.
	 "It is the burden of our church to make this an outreach," says Abbott.
"It’s an outreach that is different from 90% of the outreach that is out
there.  It is bringing out friends to a scene that they are familiar with
and from that point being able to share the gospel through that."
	 This has brought Christian DJs, young people, youth leaders, pastors,
record labels and media outlets together for a common purpose.  Even some
non-Christian DJs have been supportive of their ministry.
	 When Willowdale Baptist church opens their building for a Christian dance
party, their teenagers and young adults get involved in organization, and a
group of seniors meet during the event to pray for them.
	 Gray says that along with having a speaker that shares the message of
Christ, Christian dance parties also emphasis friendship evangelism.  A
group called Found, started in the United States, also brings Christian
young people and DJ’s into secular rave parties and witnesses for Christ
within the culture.
	 Abbott says that one of the largest hurdles to overcome wasn’t
non-Christians rejecting their message, but Christians having misconceptions
about dance music and rave culture.
	 For example, since a lot of dance music has no lyrics, how can it be
glorifying to God?
	 "When a bird chirps, are there actual words coming out of his mouth?"
Abbott asks in response, "I don’t think so, but he is still praising God."
	 Abbott adds that we are called to worship God through everything we do,
like a ballerina worshipping God through dance, an accountant worshipping
God through crunching numbers, or a volunteer worshipping God through
setting up the hall for a dance-party.
	 "God is the creator," Gray says, "music was made to draw attention to
Himself."  She says that like towering mountains and rushing rivers, God
created music for His glory and honour.
	 Gray says that the secular dance music scene has evil in it because people
used the music to worship sex, drugs and violence and to glorify themselves
instead of God.
	 "The world took dance music," says Gray, "We Christians want to take it
back and use it for Jesus."

Just want to let you all know that Unified Soul in Toronto is having
a
meeting for anyone who would like to get more involved with their
ministry… the meeting is this Thursday at 6:30 pm at Willowdale
Baptist
Church in Toronto.  (For new people to the list, Unified Soul puts on
a
dance event about every two months.)  Flyers and posters for the next
event will also be available at the meeting.

Directions: Willowdale Baptist Church is between Olive St. and Holmes

The Call DC

The youth of America are facing their darkest hour. A whole generation is
under unprecedented assault. Surveys show that 90 percent of people who give
their lives to Christ, do so before the age of 30 -- yet 88 percent of
America’s teenagers are unchurched today. Of those who now belong to a
church, four out of five will leave before they graduate from high school.
This spiritual crisis, if not reversed, will leave us with only a shadow of
the church within two decades.

Yet the rumbles of revival can be heard, the distant sounds of a spiritual
downpour that will bring a massive harvest. At a time when the voice of the
church has been drowned out by the blare of talk shows and video games, the
youth of this nation have been shaken to their core by the courage of young
martyrs in places like Columbine and Wedgewood.  There is a stirring in
campuses and high schools.  Young people are fasting, praying, evangelizing
with a new passion.  And now The Call has gone out – a summons to those who
are desperate for revival and are willing to fast and pray to see God touch
our nation.

The Call DC is a response to the summons in Joel 2:15-18, “Declare a holy
fast… Call a sacred assembly . . . bring together the elders, gather the
children.”
A historic gathering of children, youth and their parents will occur at the
Washington, DC Capitol Mall, September 2, 2000.  Here, in the same place, a
million men gathered three years ago to renew covenant – with their families
and with God. But every generation must renew the covenant for themselves
and now is the time for the next generation to do so. Just as the godly
fathers of America gathered, so too must their children.

The nation that has broken families and fatherless children is under a curse
(Malachi 4:6).  For revival to come, we need to see a profound
reconciliation between parents and their children.  One of The Call’s main
purposes is to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the
hearts of the children to their fathers.

Revival has always been with the young.  And it will be so again. Our
campuses and schools have been the birthplaces of revival before -- may it
happen again!  In this season of harvest, let us gather to commission our
youth with a mandate for this millenium and commit ourselves to mentor and
equip them.  “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the
Lord of the harvest therefore to send out workers into his harvest field.”
(Matthew 9:37-38)

On the eve of the first presidential elections of the twenty first century,
it is significant that we will be assembling in our capital.  At this solemn
assembly, let us earnestly pray for our leaders and our government.  “I
urge, then, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made
for everyone – for kings and all those in authority…”

Nothing less than God’s intervention can alter the course our nation is on.
At every critical turning point in biblical history, the people gathered for
a national, bi-generational fast. According to Joel 2, the call to fasting
and prayer takes the highest priority, as the business of everyday life is
forgotten and newlyweds abandon their honeymoon and nursing mothers bring
their little babies to assemble before the Lord. This all-inclusive fast
happens first.  Then Heaven responds with an all-inclusive outpouring of the
Holy Spirit and salvation. “And I will pour out my Spirit on all people..
and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

America could be on the brink of true revival.  Every historic revival was
preceded by someone fasting and praying. History can be changed again, the
only way it has always been changed: through united fasting and prayer. We
cannot ignore the summons of this hour.


What: A solemn assembly of two generations for prayer, fasting, worship and
commissioning.

When:  September 2, 2000, dawn to dusk [6a.m. to 6p.m.]

Where: The Capitol Mall, Washington DC

Who:  The Call DC is sponsored by a number of different ministries (see
below).  Though there will be many well known speakers and bands present, we
are choosing not to list them to promote this assembly because this is not a
festival, but a fast.

I am writing to you on behalf of the Found East-Coast division. We have
planned and organized a dance party in Covington, KY, and you are ALL
invited!!! This is a small party designed as a meeting for the Found Kids
and their friends. It will be held on August 19th, 2000 from 8pm until 4am.
At Collin's warehouse, 264 Pike St., Covington, KY (we just say that it is
in Cincinatti Ohio b/c you can spit and your over the border). This is a
FREE event, but donations are appreciated for technical expenses, and canned
foods will be given to a local shelter. If you are traveling from far away
there are cheap hotels near by to stay over. Maleko is spinning as well as a

Although there is no dance tent and probably no dance artists/DJs, Kingdom
Bound is a big event in

Hey, guys…

I’m back from Cornerstone…it was amazing!  I basically lived at the dance
tent the entire time.  I think the highlights for me (music-wise) were DJ
Jeremy Dawson’s set, and the Prodigal Sons.  There were a lot of great
artists & DJs there, and I met lots of cool people!! :)  I learned this from
Cornerstone - “Pray While You’re Dancing” – it took me to a whole new level…

I think Richard expressed it best so here’s the info:

I have a guest DJ spot next Friday night:  I will be a guest DJ at the
Rockit Club on Friday July 14th. The club is at 120 Church st. right at
Richmond st. in downtown Toronto. The club is above the bar/restaurant
there. They open it at 10 pm. Show up before 11 pm and get free admission
and free pizza. After 11 pm I think it costs like $3-5 to get in. I've been
told that I get 2 half hour sets andI get to pick what time I want to play.
Im leaning towards 12 to 1 or something. I will be playing
industrial/electronic/gothic music from Ballistic Test (my own label) and
Flaming Fish Music that you can dance to. This club night is ending July
21st due to a lack of support so this is likely my only guest DJ appearance
in the short term. As a friend or acquitance, I am asking you to come out if
you can and to tell other people you know as well.

Come out if you can to support, and if not, please keep Richard in your
prayers.  The industrial/goth scene is yet another unreached subculture and
it needs the influence of Christians and the message of Christ behind the
music.


- WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival), July 14-16 -
As far as I know there aren’t any Christian DJs playing there, but I thought
I’d mention it anyway because I know that some of you might want to go
witnessing there.  The location is the Dunnville Airport, 536 Regional Rd.

- OASIS 2000, July 29, Toronto -
DJ Hope (house, techno, euro, dance) and DJ G (dance, house, trance) are
spinning at an outdoor party / BBQ at 3350 Weston Rd., on Saturday, July 29

worship music).  The flyer is attached.  (Flyers are cool to forward to your

Congrats to Neal Baker & Liz Ratz, who are getting married on June 24th!

August 19th!  Katherine & Brandon started Found Ontario (formerly Jesus
Style Productions), a ministry to ravers in the secular rave culture.
