Ora Barlow asked me to pass this on:
an exciting musical collaboration of five musicians from both sides of
the globe. Maea Martin, Messepa Eruera and Ora Barlow (Aotearoa New
Zealand / Samoa – aka ‘Manuhiri’) and Lorraine Jordan and Gill Hunter
(Irish /Welsh/ Scottish).Their instant interest in each others music
and culture has sparked an Australia tour earlier this year, a current
UK tour and a world tour in 2004.
Together they create an eclectic and unique musical collaboration of
Pacific rhythms and harmonies with Celtic soundscapes. Their
exhilarating and awesome sound has captured the attention of many
festivals and media representatives including: WOMAD UK (2003),
Sidmouth Festival (2003), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2003) and Andy
Kershaw’s BBC Radio 3 World Music Programme, BBC 4 TV and Meridian TV.
Manuhiri, Lorraine Jordan and Gill Hunter have recorded several of
their unique collaborative pieces and their first CD entitled “from
Celtic Roots to Oceanic Soul” is due for release in time for their 2004
tour.
