The ‘hidden history’ of Glasgow in words and music
Stone Gallery on Oxford (The Church)
7.30pm
$20/$15
For their third studio collaboration, Alistair Hulett and Dave
Swarbrick focus on a workers’ revolt in the city of Glasgow that
rocked the government of the day. Red Clydeside broke out in response
to the Declaration Of War in 1914. Its leader, John Maclean, was
twice sentenced to penal servitude and twice released early due to
enormous public protest. Eventually the rulers of Britain sent troops
and tanks into Glasgow in January 1919 to prevent a full blown
revolution they feared could engulf the entire country.

Folkways and Larrikin Records, on Oxford Street.
Well known as a prolific author, ABC broadcaster, and performer, he
guarantees to press ‘nostalgia buttons’ taking his audience on a
ramble through Paddington’s unique history - illustrated with songs,
poems, yarns and curious history. The second part of the program
will offer a rare opportunity to hear a selection from the
folklorist’s deep swag of bush songs and city ditties. Warren will
be joined by musicians Marcus Holden and Garry Steel.
