SEEKING A CHOIR LEADER FOR BEATLES SONGS!
North Sydney Community Centre runs a program of evening activities and courses
for adults. In term 3 and 4 this year, we've been running a very successful
choir (with Chrisitina Mimmocchi) - Bird on a Wire - devoted to Leonard Cohen
songs.
This angle has touched a chord out there, particularly with the nostalgic baby
boomers and they turned up in numbers!
For Term 1, 2008 we want to continue with the same theme (ie 60/70's nostalgia)
and the idea is Beatles. As Christina is unable to teach for us in Term 1, while
she has her baby, we're looking for a replacement teacher. Anyone out there
interested?
A couple of things to note:
• This is part choir, part sing along. So we're looking for not so much
technique but lots of fun. A guitar, or at least an accompanying instrument is
necessary.
• The room is fabulous. Great acoustics and piano available.
• Pay is good.
• Choir runs on a Thursday evening 7.30 to 9pm (6 or 8 weeks). Would start
February 21st.
• We like to aim for a performance - even just for friends and family or at
the Saturday Market (which the Community Centre also runs)
• As an interest tempter, we will show Let It Be - the film . We kicked off
Choir on a Wire by showing I'm Your Man and nearly 80 people turned up, half of
which joined the choir the following week.
• The Centre does all necessary photocopying.
Anyone with the expertise, interest and passion, please call Susan on 9922 2299.
There is some urgency on this as the program for next year needs to be finalised
by the second week of November at the latest.
Many thanks
