Re: [tabor_n_pipe] Repertoire

Not new, exactly, but... I've been playing some of the "Cantigas de Santa
Maria" for some years on tabor pipe. Many of them fit the instrument's range
nicely, and have interesting rhythms for the tabor to work with. A friend
recently pointed me to a comparatively new transcription of the first 100,
available from http://www.gaita.co.uk/publications.html.

A couple of years ago I decided that it should be possible to have a go at reconstructing Joe Powell's taboring style. After all, we have loads of evidence and...

interesting old pipe currently on e-bay. this suggests a date of 1900 for this pipe, but extant pipes by this maker seem to date from the 1920s and 1930s....
