I agree that Dido sounds great. I believe when
you really get into an artist you need to look at the
whole person. I also agree with you that there is a
vast number of skanky, un-taleted, teen women, lacking
integrety that think being a pop star means parading around
on stage with your pretty pink eyeshadow, showing
off your implants. But, don't settle for Dido, a girl
who keeps her clothes on and make-up in check, to
satisfy your desire for a 'real' artist. As a woman how
can you admire another female who praises misogynists
like Eminem and Limp Biscuit? Where is her integrity?
A woman who calls such an ignorant, hatefull person
like Eminem 'brilliant' displays that she is clearly
not. I wanted to buy her album, but I can not, as a
woman, support another female who so clearly is turning
her back on our gender. When we are living in times
where we, as women must fear for our own personal
safety walking down the street, where we are beaten by
our partners, make less money than men do, where we
have our bodies objectified everywhere we look, and
still do not get the respect in this society afforded
to men, then we can not support a woman like Dido.
Stand on some principles. Would you support a musician
who railed against African-Americans by using racist
terms and promoted violence against them? Dido lacks
absolute integrity for allowing her lyrics to grace an
Eminem song. She continues to fail us all when she
praises him for his clearly ignorant and reckless lyrics.
If you want to listen to a strong woman who is so
much better then skanky and principally devoid teen
pop stars than check out Ani Difranco. She is a
rightous babe who rocks.
