I thought Richard was going to be working on this for some time now.......A big undertaking to say the least.  If it happens that would be great if not then just getting togeather and sharing memories would be neat also.  Ode to the Trip Tent!!!

Well, for starters.... we got to spread da word!
Get some interest started.
I say we COULD get the gang in Austin on it for starters.
The 'ole Armadilla HQ crew...Oat Willies, Willie Nelson, contact some of the 'ole crew that's still livin', CCR wasn't there but, the revisited crew I'll guarantee you would do it. That's a start, we need a committee, Richard? You gotta be in on this for it to work.
We got 90 days before Labor Day week-end...not sayin' it has to occur on that specific day....personally, when it's cooler it would be cool 'er ;0). YaknowwhatImean? We need a place, preferably private property in the sticks some where with the coveted LAKE....ohhhh lala.
We need sponsors...like head shops, the Hippie Museum guys, Rainbow guys, Austin eaterys, poster shops, tee shirt shops, radio stations, whatever...whoever. ...we ain't proud..are we? It's a doable thing with a collective effort. Who's in?

Yeah, I started talking to Richard a couple of years ago about it...we kicked around ideas, places to have it...yada yada...it sorta died with a huge undertaking, daunting, to much to do task....yada yada...
we talked about a get together reunion too...yada yada...
now it's a coming upon us rather quickly. I was thinking today of some rather radical types we have on the scene....the Motor City Mad Man came to mind, 'ole Nuge....now 'ole Uncle Ted, he's got several acres of private domain and is a back to the roots type of guy. His Spirit Wild Ranch in the outskirts of Crawford, TX west of Waco. China Spring, Texas to be exact.
Since the early 1990s Nugent has become both popular and criticized for his conservative beliefs and his anti-drug and anti-alcohol stances. He is a national spokesman for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DAR'E) program, advocating the "natural highs" to be found in an outdoor lifestyle. 'Rumor has it he still burns a fat one once in a while....the Natural high ya knows....'
He has hosted the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids, which combines a curriculm of hands-on hunting, conservation, archery and a strong anti-drug message aimed mainly at underprivileged inner-city children. Nugent also is a spokesman for the National Field Archery Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. 'This is good....no dwunks....'
An advocate of hunting and gun-ownership rights, Nugent currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association (NRA).[23][24]

He'll bring in a progressive crowd too.

This is just a start of things, when ya get the big boys with big hearts involved for a "CAUSE", big things happen rather quickly.
 
If these guys can't donate the place, I'll just bet cha they know of a place.....
No doubt the connections they have in the business will make this happen...
Get these guys all together for a collective effort and the Great Texas sky's the limit.

Love Uncle Ted....seen him with the Amboy Duke at the Celebreation of Life in 71.  Plus being a lifer of the NRA, I've talked with him at the convention {NRA}  Don't know how he'd take a bunch of ol hippies on his ranch thou.  Probably for a fee...lol

I'm hoping to finish up the book, but I've been having some medical problems

that are holding me back. I don't think it's anything serious, but it's been

causing me to have a headache almost all the time for several months. CT-scan

didn't help. Now, I'm waiting for the specialist and other stuff. But it makes

it hard to get much done. Sorry for the delay.

I was usually winning the Battle of The Bands "Duel of The Drummers" :) . I still have at least one trophey. I talk to Robin Hood Brians  and Ovid Stevens often. Ovis and the other members of Crackerjack are reforming minus Stevie Ray Vaughn. In the studio even as I type.
Big Paul is the owner of Dragons Breath Head Shop in Tyler, Nacogdoches, and Bedford. . They have several  websights.
Paul is at The Tyler shop usually.
I know Danny Elzner, Might know the others if you have 100 year old photoe lololol. Kidding
         I ran with Bob Gentry, Brady Mosher, Hank Gatewood, the late Rickey Ghears, Tony Mattasolio and Randy Fouts RIP, Randy was Robin Hood Brians late pardner. At one time I was Randy's drummer in fact the only ones I didn't play with was Tony and Hank since they were both drummers!  Tony Mattasonio was my best friend in school, Johnny Nitzinger is one of my dearest friends still today.

We need sponsors...like head shops, the Hippie Museum guys, Rainbow guys, Austin eaterys, poster shops, tee shirt shops, radio stations, whatever...whoever. ...we ain't proud..are we? It's a doable thing with a collective effort. Who's in?

I sent Robin Hood a email on the TIPF reunion yesterday.
No reply as yet.
I haven't seen Daniel Elz in about 8 years now...last seen with a group in Longview...
he toured with Tommy Overstreet in the UK I heard way back yonder.
The guy deserved better, IMHO.
He just never got THAT break.
Of course, he never went to Nashville to pay his dues either.
Back in the day...IMHO...he was the best there was in this part of the country with that Fender guitar.
He immulated Eric Clapton to the tee bone.
 
Well,if your local...I'm sure your familiar with Don Andrews and Past Tence out of Athens.
Danny, we've prolly met up with each other back there. Your name rings a bell in that 'ole fog in headsville.

Richard Rains or Richard Cambel? Both are OK as of a week ago. We lost one of our best friends Randy Prince a week ago. He was Gene Watson's lead guitarist and was on the way to meet the bus to go out on the road and was running late and lost control of his truck. Richard Rains was at the funeral with me, Leon Russel, Tracy Musgraves, Jim Holley, Grant Cook, Mike Thomas, Brother, All but 1 of  our band The Dixie Overland Highway., most of Gene Watson's band and more than I can remember. Randy was planning on joining Dixie Overland Highway. Cambel is still living in Nashville and is doing OK. He was Merle Haggard's drummer for a pretty good while.  Back in the day, I was in Dallas, New York, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Ft Worth, Shreveport, if you were in East Texas you knew me, everyone did!  In the early 70s late 60s I was at The Dallas Cellar. Everyone played there! I played a lot everywhere. Dan is a DJ now. Call Robin during the week. You stand a lot better chance reaching him. I think he seldom checks his email.
