from Katrina's destruction. This disaster has thrown our world into
turmoil. The death and destruction rips at our hearts. So many are
left with nothing and nowhere to go we must count our blessings and

ANGELS

Most people I know believe in angels. Even some of the ones
who are a bit uncertain in their belief in God still believe in
angels. Why is this? Maybe it is because it feels right to believe
in a force of goodness higher than ourselves. God has far too often
been mistakenly shown as a punisher of us. Angels, however, are
almost always shown delivering God's messages of love and joy,
helping us in our times of need, and aiding us in our desire to do
good. We so often fall short of that desire that it is comforting
to know that there are forces stronger than us willing to help us in
our efforts.

I myself believe deeply in angels. I believe that God is a god
of
love and that God wishes for us to be full of love, joy, peace, and
happiness. I believe that God sends his angels to help us
constantly whenever we need them whether we believe in them or not.
We are all put here to love each other, to help each other, and to
do good for each other. Sometimes, though, we need some help.
Sometimes are own efforts fall short of what we need. That is when
angels appear. Most of the time we don't even see them or realize
their presense, but I know that they are there helping us,
protecting us, and loving us.

There are other angels in this world too. These are angels
that we can see everyday. They are what I call angels in disguise.
They are the people around us whose love, joy, goodness, and light
brighten our lives. They are the people whose very presense makes
our lives better, more enjoyable, and happier than we could ever
hope. They are the people who live in the Kingdom of God even while
they are here on earth. Yes, I do believe in angels. I believe
angels are all around us. I believe some of them fly down from
heaven and some of them are people you know.

REAL LOVE CHANGES PEOPLE -----

When Catherine Lowe's husband, Lewis, became the warden on Sing Sing
prison in 1921, she was a young mother of three daughters. Everybody
warned her never to step foot inside the walls. But she didn't
listen
to them. When the first prison basketball game was held, in she
went,
three girls in tow, and took a seat in the bleachers with the
inmates.

When she heard that one convicted murderer was blind, she taught him
Braille so he could read. Upon learning of inmates who were hearing
impaired, she studied sign language so they could communicate. For
sixteen years Catherine Lawes softened the hard hearts of the men of
Sing Sing.

The prisoners knew something was wrong when Lewis Lawes didn't
report
to work. Quickly the word spread that Catherine had been killed in a
car accident. The following day as the acting warden took his early
morning walk, he noticed a large gathering at the main gate. Every
prisoner pressed against the fence. Eyes awash with tears. Faces
solemn. No one spoke or moved.

The warden made a remarkable decision. ?All right, men, you can go.
Just be sure to check in tonight.? These were America's hardest
criminals. But the warden unlocked the gate for them, and they
walked
without escort or guard to the home of Catherine Lawes to pay their
last respects. And to a man, each one returned.

Real love changes people.

Didn't God's love change you? Weren't you, like the prisoner, blind?
You couldn't see beyond the grave. You couldn't see your purpose in
life until he showed you. And you couldn't hear either. You'd never
heard of such love and kindness, and you never would have heard of
it, but God spoke in your language. And, most of all, he set you
free. You are free! Free to run away. Free to harden your heart. But
you don't. Or if you do, you come back. Why?

Because you've never been loved like this before.
