Inspired for Sunday

Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter.

She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked
at the envelope again.

There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address.

She read the letter:

Dear Ruth:

I`m going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I'd like
to stop by for a visit.

Love Always, Jesus Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on
the table.
"Why would the Lord want to visit me?

I'm nobody special.
I don't have anything to offer."

With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets.

"Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer.
I'll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner."

She reached for her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars
and forty cents.

Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least."

She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.

A loaf of French bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey, and a carton
of milk...leaving Ruth with grand total twelve cents to last her
until Monday.

Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed home, her meager offerings
tucked under her arm.

"Hey lady, can you help us,lady?"

Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner plans, she hadn't even
noticed two figures huddled in the alleyway.

A man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than rags.

"Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have been
living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting cold and
we're getting kinda hungry and, well, if you could help us. Lady,
we'd really appreciate it."

Ruth looked at them both.

They were dirty, they smelled bad and frankly, she was certain that
they could get some kind of work if they really wanted to.

"Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself.
All I have is a few cold cuts and some bread, and I'm having an
important guest for dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that
to Him."

"Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway."

The man put his arm around the woman's shoulders, turned and headed
back into the alley.

As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her heart.

"Sir, wait!"

The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the alley after them.

"Look, why don't you take this food.
I'll figure out something else to serve my guest."

She handed the man her grocery bag.

"Thank you lady. Thank you very much!"

"Yes, thank you!" It was the man's wife, and Ruth could see now that
she was shivering.

"You know, I've got another coat at home.

Here, why don't you take this one."

Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman's shoulders.

Then smiling, she turned and walked back to the street...without her
coat and with nothing to serve her guest.

"Thank you lady!

Thank you very much!"

Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and worried
too.

The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to offer
Him.

She fumbled through her purse for the door key. But as she did, she
noticed another envelope in her mailbox.

"That's odd. The mailman doesn't usually come twice in one day."

Dear Ruth:

It was so good to see you again.

Thank you for the lovely meal.

And thank you, too, for the beautiful coat.

Love Always, Jesus

Rose from Mich

Gold, Common Sense and Fur

My husband and I had been happily (most of the time) married for five
years but hadn't been blessed with a baby. I decided to do some
serious praying and promised God that if he would give us a child, I
would be a perfect mother, love it with all my heart and raise it
with his word as my guide.

God answered my prayers and blessed us with a son. The next year God
blessed us with another son. The following year, he blessed us with
yet another son. The year after that we were blessed with a daughter.

My husband thought we'd been blessed right into poverty. We now had
four children, and the oldest was only four years old.

I learned never to ask God for anything unless I meant it. As a
minister once told me, "If you pray for rain, make sure you carry an
umbrella."

I began reading a few verses of the Bible to the children each day as
they lay in their cribs. I was off to a good start. God had entrusted
me with four children and I didn't want to disappoint him.

I tried to be patient the day the children smashed two dozen eggs on
the kitchen floor searching for baby chicks. I tried to be
understanding when they started a hotel for homeless frogs in the
spare bedroom, although it took me
nearly two hours to catch all twenty-three frogs.

When my daughter poured ketchup all over herself and rolled up in a
blanket to see how it felt to be a hot dog, I tried to see the humor
rather than the mess. In spite of changing over twenty-five thousand
diapers, never eating a hot meal and never sleeping for more than
thirty minutes at a time, I still thank God daily for my children.

While I couldn't keep my promise to be a perfect mother - I didn't
even come close - I did keep my promise to raise them in the Word of
God. I knew I was missing the mark just a little when I told my
daughter we were going to church to worship God, and she wanted to
bring a bar of soap along to "wash up" Jesus, too.

Something was lost in the translation when I explained that God gave
us everlasting life, and my son thought it was generous of God to
give us his "last wife."

My proudest moment came during the children's Christmas pageant. My
daughter was playing Mary, two of my sons were shepherds and my
youngest son was a wise man.

This was their moment to shine.

My five-year-old shepherd had practiced his line, "We found the babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes." But he was nervous and said, "The baby
was wrapped in wrinkled clothes."

My four-year-old "Mary" said, "That's not 'wrinkled clothes,' silly.
That's dirty, rotten clothes."

A wrestling match broke out between Mary and the shepherd and was
stopped by an angel, who bent her halo and lost her left wing. I
slouched a little lower in my seat when Mary dropped the doll
representing Baby Jesus, and it bounced down the aisle crying, "Mama-
mama." Mary grabbed the doll, wrapped it back up and held it tightly
as the wise men arrived.

My other son stepped forward wearing a bathrobe and a paper crown,
knelt at the manger and announced, "We are the three wise men, and we
are bringing gifts of gold, common sense and fur."

The congregation dissolved into laughter, and the pageant got a
standing ovation.

"I've never enjoyed a Christmas program as much as this one," Father
Brian laughed, wiping tears from his eyes. "For the rest of my life,
I'll never hear the Christmas story without thinking of gold, common
sense and fur."

"My children are my pride and my joy and my greatest blessing," I
said as I dug through my purse for an aspirin.

Live A Life That Matters

Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will
pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will
shrivel to irrelevance.

It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and fears will finally
disappear.

So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks
you lived, at the end.

It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what
you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or
sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate
your example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your character.

What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will
feel a lasting loss when you're gone.

What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in
those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for
what.

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.

--------------------------------------------------------

On a day to day basis each of us makes choices; these choices are the
steps we take in life, that lead us in a certain direction.

The steps may be ....
Small or large
Smooth or rough
Easy to navigate or sometimes not so.
At times we may not even see the steps, though they are always there.

REFLECT NOW FOR A MOMENT.

What do you draw upon as you make your choices/take your steps.
Is it something tangible like your goals?
Or perhaps more intangible like your dreams?
Is it both?

What supports you in your choices?
What innate natural talents do you uniquely and individually have,
which guide you in life's journey?

Is it courage?
Which gives you the strength to take action in the face of adversity.

Is it faith?
Which gives you the realization that you are always held in the
unseen hands of the universe.

Is it your focus and determination?
Which gets you to take one more step, to go that extra mile.

Is it your passion?
To follow your spirit unconditionally and without hesitation,
wherever that may take you.

Or perhaps your sense of humor?
Which allows you to see the lighter side of things when the going
seems tough.

Above all your ability to multi task and time manage all of the above
in the now 16.6 hour days.

And it most certainly will include your family and circle of friends
and colleagues, who encourage, sustain and walk beside you as you
follow your path through life.

Consider completing where necessary.
Begin some things anew.

Think about what you wish to leave as your footprints on this planet
before your time here is done.

Dear Prayer Warriors

Please pray for my son's friend Tay.
They have been friends since childhood.
Tay has Spinal Meningitis and is in
the Intensive Care Unit, is paralyzed from
the neck down and blind.

The doctor says it is treatable but will give
no guarantees what condition he will be in when
he recovers.

God knows all things. Please lift Tay up in your
prayers he's a young man and he is in serious need
of our Father's healing touch.

Father God, I lift Tay up to you right now.
I ask that you send your angels to sit at his bedside and surround
him with Your love. I pray that you will guide and direct the
doctors and all caregivers as they treat his condition. I pray that
each one will treat him with kindness and compassion. Father God I
ask that you bring a spirit of healing to Tay right now according to
your will.
In Jesus Precious Name I pray,
Amen and Amen
- My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. Psalms
62:2

Dear Prayer Warriors

Early this morning tay regained conscienceness and can see, hear and
thought he was still at home and wondered why his sister was in his
room... LoL

Praise god for answered prayers... God bless each one of you who
prayed for Tay. Now help me pray that he will make a total
recovery. His temp reached 108 degrees when he was taken by
ambulance to the hospital on this past friday.

Please keep praying and God bless you for your prayers!
Much Love,
Barbara

Dear Prayer Warriors

Please lift my Aunt Ofelia up in prayer.
I received a letter from her yesterday (12-3-05)
She has not been well this year. Starting in
September 05 she started seeing doctors, for
eyes, diabetes and vascular problems.

She has pain in her side and the doctor is still
trying to get to the bottom of that. She also
has dizzy spells that come on periodically.
She had Carotid artery surgery last year.

Please pray that the Lord will guide the
doctors to what is wrong in her body and
show them a plan of treatment.

Thank you for your prayers, God Bless you!
Much Love,
Barbara

lifesaver -- it can be seen from a mile away!
It comes with its' own custom storage case and batteries are

Great for meetings, presentations and parties. The laser is always a
hit with kids and pets, they enjoy chasing the dot.

Overstock.com Price? $12.99 each
Your cost: $4.87 per unit
Case Pack: 6 Units
