Steve Earle the Dukes recorded a great album called
The Revolution Starts...Now. The title track is first (to get you hooked) and last (so you remember it most) on that album.
I will soon form another revolutionary socialist band called Galaxia. I have written two verses and a chorus of a song with the title The Revolution Starts Now! It will be the title track of our first CD, which we will record in time for the G8 summit (in Gleneagles, Scotland) because that is when the world socialist revolution will start.
I am encouraging a worldwide general strike (for which there is a website and discussion group) at the time of the G8 summit, and this song will explicitly call for that in the lyrics.
The song will consist of snippets of existing songs, sometimes with slight modifications, and original lyrics and tune. I will shout out "BAND AID 1984" at the start and we'll sing, "Do they know it's Christmas time at all? In a world of plenty, so many shattered dreams" at the start. Later on, I will shout out "BAND AID 2004" and we'll repeat the same two lines to make the point that twenty years of world capitalism have brought no significant improvement to the lives of people of Africa. In fact, in many countries, the situation is even worse than 20 years ago; hence the "Live 8" concerts being organised by Bob Geldof.
For more information about Galaxia, visit its discussion group or the Galaxia page on my socialist website. I will set up the Galaxia website soon, and when we have recorded this and our other initial songs, you will be able to download them free of charge from that site or elsewhere on the internet.
