Hello hello..tis a blurry eyed Velvet Janes here, finally emerging from the dark
cavenous pit called a studio, after 14 hellish days of being locked away. But,
yes, it is true...the new album is finished!!!!! (Raucous round of applause!!)
We are most happy to have it completed and would like to thank all of you who
sent us notes of encouragement...it mean't alot to us!
Now for some details....the album has I would say pretty much all of the songs
you all requested...12 in all. And it is to be called ......drum roll please..
Opus No.3
Yes indeedy...it is.
We have already set the launch date - it will be June 12th at the Fly By Night
Club in Fremantle, no Reds tickets bullshit this time - just turn up and get
your tickets on the door! The past month leading up to this has been the most
amazing time ever..hopefully you will notice, starting on June 7th on Channel 9,
there will be a HUGE television campaign to go with this release. We have been
fortunate to be offered the chance to get involved with Appealathon and part
proceeds of our album will go to one of the charities they support. Means we get
great advertising and also the chance to support a charity that we believe in.
There is also another television performance on Channel 10 the week after the
launch, but I will tell you more later, otherwise I will suffer from brain
overload.
It's an amazing time. We have been blown away by the support this next album has
already gathered and we can't wait for you to hear it! As I type I am trying to
download one of the songs onto a new mp3 site so that you are able to go and
have a sneak peek!
Speaking of 'sneak peeks' - some of you will have heard about the 'candlelight
show' that we want to do. By tomorrow we will definately have the venue for the
event nailed and at this stage we are aiming for either Friday 21st or 28th May.
I know, doesn't give you much time to organise but hey, us either! We are so
keen to do an intimate show, so we are limiting this to only 100
people..absolute max. And there will be no advertising for the show, it will
only be word of mouth and via this list. We are aiming to repeat the process
every 6-8 weeks, with hopefully another 2 events like it happening before we
leave for the US. We have organised someone to take ticket bookings for us
(bypassing REDS bigtime here!) and I will post an email tomorrow night with all
the final details and the contact number and email address for tickets. We are
excited about this night and aren't fussed if 100 or 10 people turn up..we want
the evening to more interactive, to talk about how songs were written and why
etcetcetc. The first night will also be a chance for us to showcase some of the
album songs in total acoustic mode. Okay okay, now I'm rambling.
The other cool news is our first tshirts are on their way! We will also have
them at the launch, well, there will be 50 available then as that is all we can
afford to do at this stage. Thank you to those of you who sent in designs for
tshirts..we will keep them on file and would like to use some of them at a later
stage. (We will let you know of course!!!)
Also to let those of you in Sydney and Adelaide know, we have scheduled our
album launches for you folks on:
Saturday 24th July - Cat & Fiddle , Balmain (NSW)
Wednesday 28th July - Crown & Sceptre (SA)
Also for Adelaide folks we will be doing a whole pile of shows around SA that I
will let you know about. Sorry Melbourne folks, at this stage we will be doing a
launch there when we return from the States. There just isn't enough days in the
week! Our apologies to you.
So...another lifetime filled with news. Hope that this finds you well. Thank you
as always for supporting us whether it is by turning up, sending notes or just
sending out kind wishes to the universe, we appreciate it all.
Till tomorrow with the secret information about the secret gig...(teehee kinda
feels like we're in a mission impossible movie) Oh yes, the mp3 file is giving
me nothing but grief at the moment so hopefully by tomorrow I will have that up
too so that you can go check out a song off the album.
