Greeting folks - hope that this email finds you all well. On this particularily
rainy cold day in
Perth I thought I'd drop you a line to say hi and let everyone know the latest
things in Velvet Janes land.

The best piece of news we had last week was that four of our songs were chosen
to be in the top 20 in four categorys of the National Songwriting Competition.
The four songs were Bob and Beau, Venus Calling, Loser and All of Heaven. We
were pretty stoked because it was four songs out of 2000 entries from all around
Australia. And besides, it was the first competition we had entered in and we
were encouraged by the great response. We will keep you posted as to the outcome
of that. If we win or are a runner up we will have to shoot over to Melbourne to
perform the song live at the awards night.

Other news is that we have been asked to perform as part of the Telethon week
end here in Perth. Firstly at the Whitfords concert along with a cast of
thousands and then live on Telethon at 3.09pm on that same Sunday 28th October.
We will be performing along with Marie Wilson and get this - Julian Lennon.
Yeehaa!

On November 6th we have also been asked to play the Rally Australia show at the
Esplanade which will be televised Nationally on Channel V. That show will also
feature The Whitlams, Marie Wilson and Crawlspace.

The Velvet Lounge is going strong - over the next 6 weeks we have John Butler,
Kerry Ann Cox, Jemma King and a crew of others performing with us. At this stage
the Velvet Lounge will have a recess from November 8th as we start touring from
then.

Our planned tour with Marie Wilson has been postponed until Jan as she has other
touring commitments, but we head off over East after the Bridgetown Blues
Festival (Weekend of the 13th Nov). We are trying to plan a final show before we
leave where we can bring back some of the acts that have played with us at the
Lounge for one final show for 98 - we will keep you posted about the date.

Hope that this finds you well - thank you as always for turning up to shows,
dropping us letters and notes, calling radio stations and requesting your
favourite songs and for believing in our talents.
