Well, I think the subject heading just about says it all! ('Says
what?' I hear you ask) Hope that this finds you well, and somewhat
warmer than I at the moment.

Dropping in to bring you all the latest from the unusually busy,
slightly musical world of The Velvet Janes. If you have subscribed to
here by accident.. oh well. We're nice friendly people.

At last, at last..we have set the dates for our next Australian tour.
We are planning on starting our tour in Perth around October 19th and
this time heading to SA, VIC, NSW and for the first time, to Brisbane
too (So come on all you Brisbane folks, tell us where you would like
to see us play vjanes@...) (Your lounge room doesn't
count!) We are also going to head as regional as possible in SA & Vic
and of course head down South to Bunbury, Dunsborough etc. We are
both excited about the tour and will have some new tunes as well as,
if we can remember them, plenty of the old ones too!

The live cd has been chuffing along well and we have just brought in
a new online distributor for it and Opus. If you head over to

securely online and you can leave your reviews of both albums on the
Velvet Jane bulletin board..woohoo, never had one of them before!

The Velvet Janes have also recently been launched as a case study on
the intel.com site go to: http://www.intel.com/au/eng/home/ to check
it out and download a couple of songs! It has so far been launched
through Australia and the Asia Pacific and from what I understand it
will also be translated into other languages and in the next few
months it will also be launched throughout the US and Europe.

Also new to our site is the streaming media and mp3 downloads. What
that means is that if you are having a particularily boring day at
work, you can log onto www.velvetjanes.com.au/download.htm and click
on the top streaming media icon and it plays 3-4 songs back to back
over and over again and it is really fast with no buffering needed.
Kinda exciting really huh?

So..hmm..what else? Know those times when you have lots to say but
suddenly it all escapes you? Well, I just had one.

Okay so here is an amazing story. I have learn't this week about
being ready for anything. Aimee Mann was playing here for three
nights and I was a bit late in ringing up for tickets and found out
it was completely sold out. So, the day of the first concert came and
I was pissed about missing out on tickets and I spent the day
watching videos in bed and decided around 8pm to get up and go for a
walk down to the venue (which was just down the road) to see if they
were selling any tickets outside. I kinda felt that it was something
I should do in my gut, that there was a reason for it...know those
times?. So, I decided at the last minute that I wouldn't wear my pj's
with a jumper over the top..but did go down completely underwear less
and feeling kinda grotty. I get down there and there are a couple of
guys selling tickets for that night that looked kinda shady and I
decided to come back the next night to see again and I figured THAT
was the reason I went. Then I walked up to the main entrance and on
Aimee Mann's press photo there is an email address for her
management, and I am like, well maybe THAT is the reason I am here
(because I would like the VJ's to tour with her here). So, I was just
about to walk off and I figure I would ask the girl at the counter if
there are tickets available at the door any other night because I
didnt feel right about buying tickets off scalpers...nope, they were
completely sold out. I was just about to walk off and the head of
security walks up and says he has one ticket I can have, but I
say, 'oh, but I have a friend with me'..and he says, 'well, hell,
come on it, you can be my guests'. So, we get led to a reserved table
by the side of the mixing console right in front of the stage. Oh my
god. No underwear, haven't brushed my teeth, no deodarant, didn't
even look to see if I go the sleep out of my eyes and here I was
sitting in this concert for free at a reserved table, looking around
wandering if anyone else can tell these things about me. I decided
THAT was the reason I was there. Oh how the world presents us with
gifts if we only listen. (Wish I had've listened more and got cleaned
up appropriately!!)
