Welcome to yet another early morning, I can't sleep, Velvet Janes installation!!
Ever had one of those 'wish I could kill little birds who sit outside my window
singing at 4am in the morning' experiences??!! Well, I am!!

Hope that this finds you all snug and warm in your yummy beds (@!#@!!).

Since our last chat we were notified that our placings in the Australian
Songwriting Competition just gets better and better!! Three of our songs have
now gone into the top 5 (of 3 different genres) and final judging will take
place in Melbourne on the 24th October. We aren't in a position to head over for
that night as we are just way to busy getting things ready for our tour.

Speaking of which - the most distressing news we have almost ever had in our
musical careers was that we were just 'dumped' from our first ever national tour
with another artist because (and I quote) 'we pull gay people'.(Funny, and we
thought we 'pulled people') Hmm..it actually took us a few days to get over the
actual shock of being hit with that one. Not only the shock of where it was
coming from, but also the shock that that type of mentality actually exists.
Needless to say we have since declined to appear as an opening act for that
artist anywhere. The lack of integrity in the whole thing has left us sick to
our stomachs. (And our noses - we both got colds just after that!!)

Still...we don't need em!! (I think I can I think I can) We now head off on our
own tour on the 17th November - we will be in Adelaide from the 19th - 22nd,
Melbourne 25th - 30th and Sydney from the 1st December until the 7th. So please,
feel free to tell you friends (Gotta love that word of mouth thing!!) As soon as
all the dates and venues are down I will email a list of them out.

That means that our last shows in Perth, pretty much for this year (unless we
come up with another idea for Dec!) (Christmas with the Janes perhaps??) will
happen on the 7 & 8th of November. The venue for the 7th is yet to be confirmed
but the 8th will be the last Velvet Lounge at the Rock Garden Cafe. Your
attendance at any of those shows would be most greatful!!

After that weekend we head down (up??) to Bridgetown for the Blues festival and
then we head off over East.

So, that is where our lives are at, at the moment.
The tour will be exciting - at this particular moment it is somewhat daunting -
but, still I'm remembering the little red truck going up that hill..I think I
can, I think I can.

I hope that this finds you well - thank you as always for your support, letters,
attendance and general happy, positive thoughts. We hope that it finds its way
back to you.
