Oh how good it is to write to you again. Seems like so much craziness
has been happening in this world lately that sitting down to write
has escaped me for way too long.....

So, hello...wonderous person of the Velvet Janes mailing list
variety. We hope that your world is safe and well, wherever you are.

Such a big year all round that it is hard to know where to start.
Thank you would be a good place. Thank you to those of you who have
hung with us all of this time and watched as The Velvet Janes have
gone through transition..hopefully we are coming out the other end
better and even more into what we do. Thank you for continuing to buy
our cds and send us emails and for harassing us about when we are
going to play in your town. Thank you for being excited to see us
again...

This year has been a great and a hard year for us. Lots of travelling
between countries and way too many plane flights...!! Given the
current global climate those plane flights have been much harder than
normal, that is for sure.

In a nutshell this year we have played at festivals in Australia like
Port Fairy and the Blue Mountains Music Festival for the first time,
at Hopland festival in California, Michigan Womens Festival in
Michigan (doah), toured through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago,
New York, Phoenix and Michigan and met some amazing artists and
friends along the way. Headlined at the Health & Wellness festival in
the beautiful Napa Valley and slept on everything from futons (why
the hell do people still buy them?), to car seats, to luxury hotel
room beds, to water beds with leaks. Set up great distribution for
our product throughout the US and sold thousands of copies worldwide
(now we gotta work on Australia again!). And we have played to 5
people and to 5,500 people...and everything in between. And I just
finished my first solo tour in five years through the most amazing
countryside in Oregon and Washington (you know how when you write
something sometimes it doesn't seem like THAT much when you look at
it...well, this is not that!!) What an adventure.

We are excited about our upcoming Australian tour. At last, I get a
summer and to have a few months to hang out around my country showing
my sweetheart the countryside, and to hang out with my family and
then tour with The Janes and hopefully come and see some of your
smiling faces. What better thing is there to do? I ask you...?!!

At this stage not everything is completely firm with our tour and
hopefully it will be in the next few weeks and we can send out the
exact dates but I CAN at least give you the confirmed ones now. Some
of them have changed from our website, but this of course is always
the first place that you will get to hear what is actually happening.

Oh, should I mention now that I am packing in my suitcase new bumper
stickers, which I am really happy about...they look very cute, if I
must say so myself.

So, thank you for the journey so far. For coming along for part of it
and being so supportive the rest of the way... (okay, can anyone else
tell that I am premenstrual here??!)

Saturday 26th January - Busselton Beach Festival, Australia Day Show

Okay, so maybe it's not too much to go one just yet...but I promise,
more will be coming soon - and the East Coast tour starts on Feb 14th
and we will be doing shows through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney,
Canberra and then for the first time New Zealand!!
