Hi all. This is my first posting. My name is Richard Mogridge and I
live in Maryville, Tennessee. You may be aware that this small town
is close to Knoxville, where the Tennessee Theatre, home of the
Mighty WurliTzer, is located. This instrument is a 3/16 built in
1928. I have a great desire to get my hands on it but I have yet to
contact Bill Snyder, the current house organist. I have been
experimenting of late with some sound fonts I found on the web and
have recorded five albums full of various tunes both secular and
gospel on what I call the Mighty Walnut Hill WurliTzer, a virtual
theatre pipe organ made possible using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.01
running on a monster Windows XP Server hooked up to an 88note Peavy
MIDI controller. I set a stop combo in Cake and record the part that
uses it. Then, I move to the next track and do the next part, etc.
Eventually I get all the tracks with all the parts done and mix them
down to stereo for mastering to CD using Sound Forge 6. I have a gom
o' DX plugs that make the organ sound quite real. If any one wants to
contact me, my email is slowdog294@.... After finishing the
five albums, I found this group and downloaded Jim's little proggy
and think that it is ultra cool. Now if I only had some bass pedals.
I know where to get these but they are costly. I dig the organ as I
have been playing the beasts for thirty years. I have owned Hammonds,
Conns and Lowreys. I have sold these along with Thomas, Rodgers,
Kimball, Gulbransen and Baldwin instruments large and small. Let's
get together and talk organ and swap ideas. Oh, and thank you Jim.
You are a genius. Consider this: will you ever skin the proggy for us
that have big screens so the horseshoe is indeed a horseshoe (but
leave the original GUI as a choice because it is neat and clean
indeed) and possibly add MIDI routing choices for the manuals and
pedals in your menus? I can't wait to start recording with this
puppy. I shall watch it grow. I know you are working on it. If
anybody wants to hear my music, say so and I will post some clips in
MP3 or WMA format. The CDs can be purchased from me directly for $10
each at Walnut Hill Productions, 811 Walnut Street, Maryville,
Tennessee 37804-4268. If you want to talk to me, my office phone is 1
(865)981-4253. Email me for a list of songs contained therein. God
bless all and happy playing everybody!
