"Nick, don't you want to adopt a baby?" Jessica Simpson asks hubby Nick Lachey
on this week's episode of "Newlyweds."


"Uh, not right now," Nick responds.


Well, maybe not right now. But according to Us Magazine, the seeds of motherhood
are firmly planted in Jessica's pretty blonde brain.



"I don't think it will be in six months or a year, but after that, Nick's
getting old," Simpson said on having a baby the old-fashioned way.


Just last year, both Nick and Jessica were ready to try their hands at
parenthood – just not the kind that would require changing diapers.

"It's gonna be us two for a while and then maybe we'll get a dog and then maybe
we'll have a baby," Jessica said. "We've got to get a dog first."


"I think we're about ready for the dog," hubby Nick added. "I'm taking it in
steps, you know."


Apparently they are one step closer to hearing the pitter-patter of little feet
as Nick surprised Jess with a puppy on her birthday last weekend.


But as far as kids go, Lachey said they would love to open their home and their
hearts to a child.


"We'd love to have our own children. But we have a heart for kids and we'd love
to adopt," he told Us magazine.

The Slim-Fast diet drink company has dumped Whoopi Goldberg from its advertising
because its executives were unhappy with remarks the comedian made at a recent
political rally that mocked President Bush.

"We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express
herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our
consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," Slim-Fast
general manager Terry Olson said in a press release Wednesday.

Goldberg participated at a recent Democratic fund-raiser at Radio City Music
Hall in New York, joining performers such as John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul
Newman, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange and John Leguizamo.

At one point in a speech mocking the Bush administration, Goldberg used his
surname as a sexual reference.

The event raised $7.5 million for the John Kerry-John Edwards presidential
ticket. Both Kerry and Edwards attended, but neither commented about the jokes
made by the celebrities toward Bush.

Goldberg's representatives did not immediately return a call for comment
Wednesday.

ODB Duets With Macy Gray On 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'
Since his release from prison and psychiatric care last year, Ol' Dirty Bastard
has been in and out of the recording studio. Apparently, that time has not been
spent under supervision, as he's just recorded a duet with raspy-voiced R&B
singer Macy Gray, who has a wild-life reputation of her own.

The two covered Elton John's mid-'70s hit "Don't Go Breaking' My Heart," which
the Piano Man recorded with Kiki Dee in much more melodic fashion. ODB and
Gray's version is, to say the least, full of their own unique character. Though
known mostly for his rapping and improvisations, ODB sings through the entire
track, trading lines with Gray in the musical love romp.

The track was concocted by Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Damon Dash, who is overseeing
ODB's album on his label. It's credited to "ODB with Macy Gray," even though
Dirty's album will be released under the moniker Dirt McGirt.
Whether the song will also appear on an album Gray is recording is uncertain.
ODB's album still does not have a release date scheduled


Joe Budden was arrested in Queens, New York, Tuesday afternoon for driving with
a suspended license.

According to a police spokesperson, officers pulled over Budden in a current
model BMW around 3 p.m. for speeding on the Clearview Expressway. He was driving
76 mph in a 50 mph zone. Police then discovered that Budden was driving with a
suspended license and arrested him.

Budden remained in jail overnight and was arraigned Wednesday morning (July 14)
in Queens criminal court. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of
a motor vehicle in the third degree and speeding, according to a spokesperson
for the Queens district attorney. Budden paid a $300 fine and was released on
his own recognizance.

The rapper recently ended a stint as host of New York's Hot 97 morning show and
is currently putting the finishing touches on a new album due out in the fall.
