Diddy has recently made his intentions known that he would like to portray 007
in the next James Bond incarnation. “The world is ready for a Black James Bond,”
he recently told a British publication, while also showing his desire to have
actress Angelina Jolie play his love interest.

Dr. DreFinally, after all the talk and delays, Dr. Dre’s Detox may see the light
of day. While his Interscope buddies Eminem (“We’re gonna make sure Dre does
Detox”) and Game (“Look out for Detox”) have co-signed that the album would
finally come out, word has officially come from Interscope that the album is
slated for a Fall 2005 release date. Trust me… we will be all over this one.

BUSTED: Eight-time Olympic medalist swimmer Michael Phelps, 19, has been charged
with driving under the influence, the Baltimore Sun reports. The swimmer, who
made a major splash at the Athens Summer Games, was stopped Thursday at 11:30
p.m. by a Maryland State Police trooper in Salisbury, authorities said Monday.
The trooper pulled Phelps over after he failed to halt at a stop sign. He was
arrested and later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol..

REDWOOD CITY – In a sign of possible discord in the jury room, the judge in
Scott Peterson's murder case lectured the panel Monday about the importance of
deliberating with an open mind. Judge Alfred A. Delucchi summoned jurors to the
courtroom just an hour and half after they resumed deliberations. They got the
case Wednesday afternoon and spent the weekend sequestered in a hotel after
deliberating through Friday.

The judge reissued instructions on several key points.
"The people and the defendant are entitled to the individual opinion of each
juror," the judge said. "Do not hesitate to change your opinion for the purpose
of reaching a verdict if you can do so.
"The attitude and conduct of jurors at all times is very important," he added.
"It is rarely helpful for a juror at the beginning of deliberations to express
an emphatic opinion on the case."
The jurors listened with serious, even grim expressions before they were sent
back into the jury room to resume deliberating. It was not immediately clear
what exactly prompted the judge's instructions, which took about five minutes.
Trial observers speculated it was clear jurors are beginning to reach a
deadlock.
"They're stuck," said Jim Hammer, a former prosecutor and trial regular. The
judge "clearly has indications that they're beginning to hang."
Earlier Monday, jurors viewed the boat prosecutors claim Peterson used to
dispose of his wife's body before resuming deliberations.
After the boat viewing, defense lawyer Mark Geragos sought a mistrial, claiming
jurors violated the judge's order by doing "a juror experiment" when several of
the panelists got inside the boat and rocked it from side to side. The judge
quickly denied the motion.
As an alternative to a mistrial, Geragos asked the judge to be allowed to show
jurors a videotaped experiment performed by the defense.
Peterson is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of his wife, Laci,
and the fetus she carried. Prosecutors claim Peterson killed Laci around Dec.
24, 2002, then dumped her weighted body from his small aluminum boat into San
Francisco Bay. The remains of Laci and the fetus were discovered a few miles
from where Peterson claims to have gone fishing alone the day his wife vanished.
Defense lawyers have argued that it would have been nearly impossible for
Peterson to have heaved his wife's 153-pound body over the edge of the boat
without tipping.
Geragos did a videotaped experiment apparently showing the boat would have
tipped, but Delucchi ruled against allowing him to show the video to jurors
during the trial.
"The juror was in there. The juror was standing inside the boat, shifting back
and forth," Geragos told the judge.
The judge had instructed jurors before deliberations began not to conduct any
experiments.
"I didn't know they were going to jump up and down on the boat," the judge said.
"I don't want a mistrial ... I want to show my demonstration," Geragos replied.
Jurors viewed the boat and its trailer in a parking garage near the courthouse.
The judge said jurors "carefully examined the sides of the boat."
He then ruled against Geragos' motion for a mistrial or to allow jurors to view
his experiment.
Given that the boat was not in the water, "they should bear that in mind in
their consideration," the judge said. "I think this works both ways. It can work
for the prosecution's benefit. It can work for the defense's benefit."
The judge has decided to allow them to deliberate only Monday-Friday. Twenty-one
bailiffs have been sworn in to watch over them throughout the process.
Jurors have two choices should they decide to convict Peterson – first- or
second-degree murder. First-degree convictions, carrying the death penalty of
life without parole, would mean jurors believe Peterson planned the killings in
advance. Second-degree murder convictions don't require a finding of
premeditation, and carry sentences of 15-years-to-life for each count.
Also Monday, the presiding judge of the courthouse ruled against media attorneys
who were seeking to have cameras stationed about 40 feet down a hallway from the
courtroom where the trial is under way. Last week, Delucchi banned television
and still cameras from the courtroom for the verdict, but said he would allow a
live audio broadcast.

Justin Timberlake is playing actor again — but his return to music is just
around the corner. The singer, who recently began shooting "Alpha Dog" has
talked with at least two producers about recording later this year. Timberlake

has reached out to Rich Harrison, best known for Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love," and
is also talking with veteran hitmaker Rodney Jerkins, who is eager to re-team
with him after working with 'NSYNC in the past.
"I actually called Justin a couple weeks ago," Jerkins said. "I
just took his address down and I'm gonna start [saving] little things here and
there to let him know what we're trying to do, 'cause he's one of those projects
that I wish I could get in from beginning to the end. He has an amazing talent
and ability, but I don't think it's been brought out of him yet. I mean, he had
a couple great songs, but there's something deeper that hasn't come out and he
doesn't even know about yet."

Both Jerkins and Harrison were impressed by Timberlake's intimate, live
band-driven late-night shows (see "It's Justin Timberlake Gone Wild At
Late-Night Club Show") and would be interested in making that sort of music with
him.

"I've got some ideas, but it's not about what I want to do with him, it's about
sitting down with him, getting into his head and pulling that out," said
Harrison, who produced Destiny's Child's next single as well as material for
Jennifer Lopez's next album.

Timberlake's first album, Justified, was a smash hit with several successful
singles, although he's been focusing on acting for most of 2004. "Edison," his
first movie, is due next year.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Actor Burt Reynolds is suing his former girlfriend,
claiming she was threatening to say he abused her if he didn't pay her millions
of dollars.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in Florida, said Pamela Seals falsely accused the
actor of yelling at her and stomping on her toes.

Seals and Reynolds were a couple for 10 years.

The lawsuit said Seals threatened to go public with her claim if he didn't give
her money, half of his Florida home and other compensation.

Reynolds' lawyer said she was offered $1 million to settle the matter, but she
refused.

In a statement, Reynolds called the situation "unfortunate" and said he would
not be "intimidated by false accusations."

That's it for today until then; until next time
