Roomful has a new album coming out, is a time to rejoice!
They are a great band - saw them at a small venue (150
max) and they blew the roof off the place!! They
barely fit on the tiny stage without falling off, but
up-close and personal doesn't even begin to descibe that
show. I hope they return to Houston soon; they are not
to be missed.

The BB King tribute album to the great jazz man
Louis Jordan titled "Let The Good Times Roll" which

Earl Hooker was born in Clarksdale in the
Mississippi Delta. He moved to Chicago as a child where he
was influenced by slide wizard veteran Robert
Nighthawk. At a young age he ran away from home journeying
back to Mississippi, playing with Ike Turner and Sonny
Boy Williamson. Earl made his first recording in 1952
and 53. In 1953 he recorded with Blues pianist
Pinetop Perkins. Through the years Earl has recorded both
on his own and with artist like Junior Wells,
Lillian Offitt, Ricky Allen, Muddy Waters and more. He
never got the attention as most slide guitarist, since
he didn't sing much and had no great voice. But his
work with big Blues legends and great slide work kept
this wanderer traveling until tuberculosis halted him
in 1970. If you haven't heard of some Earl Hooker's
albums or work with the artist named you should check
him out. He gives the slide a place in Blues History.
