NME 1977
After 1 year of practicing and live shows
The Clash have officially disbanded two
weeks after their debut album "These Album Titles Are Hard!" bombed.
It is all moot really as their record company CBS has dropped the
band from the label a company janitor said.
What started out as such a bright and revolutionary promising band
quickly deteriorated in fame seduction and greed. Insiders tell NME
that The Clash started realizing fans were paying all this money for
sold out shows and they were going to be rich and famous someday so
it was better to that they embrace the rich and advantageous than the
poor and disgruntled.
"It was a fine line" lead singer Joe Bummer said. "We just decided it
was better to be rich and non-hypocritical than rich and
hypocritical." Joe Bummer added.
Lead guitar player Mick Bones confirmed Bummer's sentiments. "I've
reached the 1st step! Why the heck would I want to back down to the
floor?" And Bassist Paul Scaminman said "Those paints and brushes are
expensive man! I'm getting mine!"
And finally Flopper Headon was unavailable for comment and was said
to be looking into an amateur boxing career. The only other later
breaking news was that Mick Bones was starting a new band called
GOOD. Which is an acronym for "Get Off Our Dole". Maybe someone
should remind Mick Bones he's just right around the corner from the
Dole Office.
After looking at the final track listing to The Clash's 1st and only
and last album one could only wonder what this band might have become
yet sadly we're only left with a frustrating reality.
