We are moving to Austin from NYC and I need to find a new home for my
pet guinea pig Albert. Guinea pigs are wonderful apartment pets; they
are cuddly and love affection, but don't need to be walked!
Albert is two years old. His fur is calico and kind of cowlicky, very
cute. He comes with a cage, hut, and all the other things he needs.
I want Albert to have a stress-free home where he gets regular
attention and affection. His new owner(s) should not have any dogs or
cats or other uncaged animals, and should be sure they will have the
time to take him out of his cage once a day for a little TLC.
If you're interested, email me and I can tell you more about what
caring for him involves.

So there's an idea floating around that the Obama Administration should revive the WPA-era Federal Art Project and Federal Writers Project, putting artists and writers to work teaching kids in exchange for salary and student loan forgiveness. Change.org is holding a vote on the idea. The ten ideas getting the most votes will be presented to Obama on inauguration day, and the DEADLINE FOR THE FIRST ROUND IS TODAY. Voting does require starting an account with the organization.

Words on "Cornucopia" have been tremendously flattering:
"It's a guarantee their song 'I Had a Dirty Dream About You' will stick
in your head. ... In fact, The Color Guard does many different things
very well: dark, prog metal in the vein of Queensryche, math-rock
musical shifts, and lyrically optimistic pop." - Venus, April 13, 2007
"'I Had a Dirty Dream About You' could be the band's first single...
This song combines a simple chord progression, dynamic drum rhythms and
mischievously sexy lyrics to create a, well, highly danceable rock
song.
"The DVD accompanying Cornucopia -- a live performance at CBGB’s
gallery -- showcases an exceptional live band that combines a love of
theatrical performance with solid musical ability. "
- Feminist Review, June 17, 2007
"The Color Guard's new EP/DVD called Cornucopia sounds...like The
Breeders performing in a sweaty, greasy garage of That Dog's dude fans.
That's a weird scenario, but weird scenarios are appropriate."
- The Deli, April 25, 2007
"Fans of the old Blondie stuff will surely like this. ... It's a cool
link between wave and rock. If you like a mix of wave, rock and punk
and a good feeling for harmony vocals, than this will be a cornucopia
full of nice goodies for you."
- Metal Maidens (The Netherlands) June 2007
WFMU's Pat Duncan has been spinning "Unfinished Business" and "Heavenly
Feeling" regularly on his show.
KOOP in Austin debuted "Experiencia Exotica" for its Spanish Rock Radio
show, to immediate enthusiastic listener call-in response.
I Love Music blogger Dimension5ive listed "Kick Ass Instrumental" as
one of "Your Eleven Favourite Songs of the Moment, (#@$%)" on the music
critics' bulletin board, March 26.
So..... DOWNLOAD "CORNUCOPIA" from iTunes store (search for "the color

As you may know, I'm a volunteer instructor at the Rock Camp for Girls
in NYC. It's a great, week-long summer camp that gives girls tools for
building self-esteem and skills in working with others--through rock
and roll!
This year, in an effort to extend this opportunity to more girls whose
families might not be able to afford tuition, Camp organizers have put
together an online AUCTION with tons of amazing things you can buy
while helping fund scholarships to the Camp. For example, my company
donated three items from the TV show I work on, The Wonder Pets! Other
things include guitars, collectible toys, clothes, vacation
packages.... I can't possibly list them all.
Check it out! Here's the link, below. It will take you to the intro
page, so look down to "View Auction Catalog" and click on that:

xoxoxooxooxxxoslobberslobberdrooldrool,
The Color Guard
October greetings from The Color Guard!
We're writing to tell you about two thangs:
--- Our upcoming EP/DVD
--- The Color Guard Radio
So here goes:
--- We're just about finished mixing our new, six-song EP "Cornucopia"! It's
scheduled for
release in January 2007, packaged with a DVD of our last show at CBGB's Gallery.
We've been working at JoshÕs home studio in Rockland County. After basic
tracking at
NYUÕs Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, Josh recorded guitar overdubs
and all
the vocals in his 1749 family house among the trees and wild turkeys.
"Cornucopia" radiates with color, fragrance, and a multitude of shapes. A harp
spreads
angelic sweetness across the palate in 'Heavenly Feeling.' The song 'Capture'
unites an
exciting arithmetic rhythm with a glorious pop verse that takes a snapshot of a
perfect
day. The garage walls shake during 'I Had a Dirty Dream About You' and 'Unloaded
Gun'. A
new love affair becomes an 'Experiencia Exotica' as Lalena rolls her tongue
around the
Spanish she learned while living in Mexico. Perhaps the most surprising dish,
'Kick Ass
Instrumental' loads hearty helpings of grinding rock trippiness onto the
platter, in tribute
to The Color GuardÕs noise-metal tour friends in Providence. Call it a
six-course feast.
We'll have some audio clips posted soon! Meanwhile:
--- Listen to The Color Guard Radio! We designed our own internet radio station
on
Pandora.com with a bunch of our influences and favorite artists, plus whatever
else
Pandora thinks is similar. It's fun! Link to The Color Guard Radio:
http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh146664706445881673
Or,
You can even add The Color Guard to a station you design yourself!
That's it for now. Have a good weekend...we hope you're getting to work on your
Halloween costumes!

On Monday night, dark pop foursome The Color Guard will be wrapping up a
creative 5
years together with a final show at CBGB Gallery. We're playing one of our very
favorite
parties, Alchemy, with one of our very favorite bands, German metalheads Lesion.
The
night opens at 9:00 with a special appearance by Projekt Records' Unto Ashes,
followed by
Of the Between. We play at about 11:00.
Members of The Color Guard have had a great time together and are extremely
proud of
our three CD releases -- if you haven't heard the latest, "Dark Pop," it's a
kaleidoscope of
heavy riffs, soaring madrigal harmonies, and singalong melodies. Take a listen
on iTunes:
"Your Kiss is My Command" laces a flute through quasi-Eastern aphrodisiac
vocals, while
metal torch song "The Woman Behind the Woman (Oh Mary Magdalene)" tells an
alternate--if blasphemous--side of the only female apostle.
We will continue to offer our monthly "free downloads" on www.thecolorguard.com,
so you
can collect 'em for free if you want.
Or better yet, come to the show! We'll play selections from "Dark Pop" and
"Speech For
Heated Hearts," as well as a bunch of amazing new songs you may never get to
hear again!
This probably won't be the last you'll hear of us, as we all will be continuing
to make music
and might even collaborate on future projects. And who knows--maybe The Color
Guard
will re-emerge one day.
