Yesterday it finally occurred to me to do a google search for the
DeFrancos. I did, and found the DeFranco website which led me here.
I've been sort of going down memory lane today, some good memories
coming back to me. I amazed myself how well I still know the lyrics to
their songs that I haven't heard in decades, Gorilla and Sweet Sweet
Loretta for example.

I was a fan of them back about 1973-1975ish. I had both their albums.
I still have their "Save The Last Dance for Me" lp, which is kinda
surprising considering how much I played it. I was living in Edmonton
Alberta at the time and they came for a concert there in 1974. Their's
was the first concert I went to. The price of the ticket, $5.00, my
how times have changed.

Also back in '74-'75, I recall they had a TV special. I don't remember
what it was called, but it was a concert show with a bit of acting.
Does anyone remember it? I do remember that it was produced by Dick
Clark, at least I seem to recall that it was produced by Dick Clark.
If anyone remembers this special maybe you can fill in the blanks for
me. Better yet, if any DeFrancos are reading this, email me, if anyone
remembers this special, it will be you. I would appreciate hearing
more about what has become of you all, over the years. Marissa,
Merlina, I would love to hear from either, or both of you, especially.

OK, I admit it, I was a member of their fan club and was one of their
area promoters. For being an AP I remember getting a couple Christmas
cards from them. I also got a few letters from other AP's wanting to
be pen pals. One of them I kept in touch with until she got married
several years later.

After they left the Laufer Group I never heard anything about them.
Then one night back about 2000ish, while watching The Late Late Show
with Craig Kilborn, I was surprised to hear him mention the name Tony
DeFranco. Eight years later, it finally occurs to me to do that google
search, and so, here I am. What can I say, I may be slow, but I did
eventually get here.

Well, that's about it. I just wanted to introduce myself a bit, maybe
make some friends here. So, if anyone is interested, any and all
DeFrancos included, feel free to reply to this, or email me.

David
