The first time I heard the DeFranco family was in 1973. I was a cripple then and
I am still "disabled"; funny how terminology changes. When Tony and his family
sang I was elevated to a place where I too could dance and sing. I never left my
wheelchair physically, but in my soul I was there on stage too. Thank you for
the memories and for the times I was free to dance and sing. God bless and keep
you. Heartbeat, Abracadabra, and Save the Last Dance , were some of my
favorites. By mistake I somehow lost those mp3S. If anyone has them could you
please send them? whcisson@.... I will always love and cherish those
golden summers that seemed to last all year long. Thank you so much DeFranco
Family. My love goes with you always. ........Will Cisson.

Lori in Pa.
Hi all, David, .Welcome to the Defranco group. I my self is a Tony
fan from 1974, and still are. I found this site in 2003. I was just
wondering about Tony and I clicked on and wow I got a lot of sites of
Tonys,. So Ive been in here for a while. Hey Tony where are
you ??????? Oh Tony Oh Tony, Come and write in here. Ok got to go
to work. Bye Lori in pa.
Yesterday it finally occurred to me to do a google search for the
DeFrancos. I did, and found the DeFranco website which led me here.
I've been sort of going down memory lane today, some good memories
coming back to me. I amazed myself how well I still know the lyrics to
their songs that I haven't heard in decades, Gorilla and Sweet Sweet
Loretta for example.
I was a fan of them back about 1973-1975ish. I had both their albums.
I still have their "Save The Last Dance for Me" lp, which is kinda
surprising considering how much I played it. I was living in Edmonton
Alberta at the time and they came for a concert there in 1974. Their's
was the first concert I went to. The price of the ticket, $5.00, my
how times have changed.
Also back in '74-'75, I recall they had a TV special. I don't remember
what it was called, but it was a concert show with a bit of acting.
Does anyone remember it? I do remember that it was produced by Dick
Clark, at least I seem to recall that it was produced by Dick Clark.
If anyone remembers this special maybe you can fill in the blanks for
me. Better yet, if any DeFrancos are reading this, email me, if anyone
remembers this special, it will be you. I would appreciate hearing
more about what has become of you all, over the years. Marissa,
Merlina, I would love to hear from either, or both of you, especially.
OK, I admit it, I was a member of their fan club and was one of their
area promoters. For being an AP I remember getting a couple Christmas
cards from them. I also got a few letters from other AP's wanting to
be pen pals. One of them I kept in touch with until she got married
several years later.
After they left the Laufer Group I never heard anything about them.
Then one night back about 2000ish, while watching The Late Late Show
with Craig Kilborn, I was surprised to hear him mention the name Tony
DeFranco. Eight years later, it finally occurs to me to do that google
search, and so, here I am. What can I say, I may be slow, but I did
eventually get here.
Well, that's about it. I just wanted to introduce myself a bit, maybe
make some friends here. So, if anyone is interested, any and all
DeFrancos included, feel free to reply to this, or email me.
David
I really try not to Spam anyone! Most of you out there know I have an Autistic

I will not reveal my age...however I will say I was 12yrs old when you
were my idol...over the years I've often wondered what happened to the
DeFrancos...and my teenage idol. You and your family has struck the
hearts of many people far and wide. You came to mind last night while
my son was on pc...so I wrote a note to myself to do research
today...I'm so glad I did...and I wish that as a child of only 12 would
have hung on to her records and tigerbeat magazines, and all the
posters posted on every wall. Thank goodness for pc's and internet,
many of us women who swooned over you as a little girl, wouldn't have
the oppertunity to still escape to the past. When I clicked on the song
Heartbeat its a lovebeat...I was surprised I still knew every single
word. Thank you so much for the impressions you have left in many
hearts.
Listening to the Defranco Family really brings back memories of my
school days! Heartbeat,It's a Love Beat reminds me of my friends I hung
around with then. Until today,I never realized that the Defrancos were
from our area! I was born in Port Hope Ontario the same year as Tony
was born down the road in Port Colbourne.I was living in Sydenham
Ontario when Heartbeat came out and now reside in Amherstview Ontario.
It is so cool that someone started a group for the Defranco Family.
Unfortunatly I was never able to see them in concert.I did attend
concerts for Nazareth,April Wine, and that 'new' group RUSH during that
time though.
I still have Defranco Family singles I got when they were released.
Have fun with the group everyone!

Hey folks,
I recently purchased about 140 slides on ebay of the defranco family
on slides...
any suggestions on printing these pics? I would love to share them
with all defranco fans!!!
They are great candid shots of tony and the defranco family on tour,
doing photo shoots for
tiger beat( they were taken but not used in the magazine)...and
practicing for a t.v. game
show.
I purchsed them from Kathy cohen who use to be the assoc. editor for
tiger beat from 1971
to 1979...she said they were shots she took.
Thanks
folks
Have you tried contacting a local photo lab?

That is SO Awesome! What a SCORE!!! I hope you share some with the
group - I'm SO excited for you!! I remember the DeFrancos on a game
show - I took pictures with my old Kodak 110 Pocket camera! I am
looking forward to hearing more about the slides. I have an enlarger
but that would only make prints that looked negative I'm afraid! I'm
sure you can have them converted to negatives and reprinted at a good
phot shop. Good luck!!!!! ~Cindy

Hi, Y'all!!!
I'm Storm...I live in TX. I've only been a member here maybe a
month, but I watch. And now, I have to talk......somebody stop me.
Just wanted to say that I am SO glad I'm not the only one out
there still thinking abt Tony, The DeFranco's....and Donny, The
Osmonds, Leif, Shawn........it's not JUST them.....it's the music
they gave us. Too many people try to put it down, but I believe it
only made some of us stronger. Not only from the music.....but what
it meant to US at the time, and how we feel about it now. Not to
mention, having to argue abt it with those who know nothing abt OUR
music, and the way it made us feel.
THAT is why I wanted to be part of this group...... to find others
who feel the way I do abt this music. Let me tell ya.....my KIDS
even know the words to "Heartbeat" I played it so much!! Now, I've
got grandkids to teach it to....and hey.......I'm 42...I've already
taught them abt Elvis and Buddy...and the Beach Boys..just waiting
until they can appreciate The DeFranco's!!
Ok......for my first time out here, I think I'd better shut up.
Anyway, hey, y'all!! Talk to me soon!
Heartbeats*,
Storm~

lrmotorhead@...
I haven't heard from this group in such a long time. I saw you all sing
at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA OH...so many years ago. Today, I
was driving across Texas and in Amarillo the radio played your
song "Heartbeat". My 15 year old daughter heard it, and as I was
blasting it out my own lungs word for word...she wondered who that was.
She thought it was a new song by a new "boy band"!! (Come'on you have
to laugh!!) She liked it. I still like it too!!!
