FROM DAVE & BETH - Friday, October 19th, 2007
Dear prayer team,
We have had a number of recent phone and email inquiries asking about
Beth. What a great concerned prayer support army we have! Thank you!!
Beth's last visit was a week and half ago (Oct 9th) and had some
encouraging signs in her blood work. Her counts are climbing, her white
cell count is inching up with a ways to go.
She is scheduled for a visit next Wed, 10/24 at Dana Farber. She does
have some graph verses host disease issues that have presented
themselves in these first 90 days since her bone marrow tranplant. GVHD
in her case is bouts of sudden nausea and vomitting with no real
warning and happening weekly, and there are a few other challenges.
Medications can sometimes assist but other time ineffective. The last
couple of days have been pretty good days for her, though our kids have
been battling through some virus stuff.
We appreciate you praying for the GVHD issues to become less, and the
continual build of all her counts towards normal and that she would
remain healed of AML.
Thank your for your faithful prayer partnership!
Dave
DEAR PRAYER TEAM:
I wanted to include pictures from the LOVE * HOPE * STRENGTH
Foundation's Climb for Cancer concert called EVEREST ROCKS! which
happened this past weekend when Mike Peters of THE ALARM hosted the
Highest Gig in the World at the Base Camp of Mount Everest. Mike is a
2x cancer survivor and he and 8 other cancer/leukemia survivors hiked
to the Base Camp with a group of 25 other musicians & supporters to
bring attention to the need for more affordable/available cancer
treatment centers around the world.
They have raised over $100,000 so far and as part of the fundraising I
was able to add BETH's name & my name to the Tibetian Prayer Flags the
team was bringing to the Base Camp concert and leaving on the mountain
as testament to the many people who's lives have been touched but not
destroyed by leukemia. The flags are also a prayer of thanksgiving
that so many individuals have banded together to make a collective
effort that can make a significant difference in the future of cancer
research & treatment and a statement that each of us can do at least
one thing to raise awareness for the cause.
