THE HILLS RUN RED FOR COMPOSER FREDERIK WIEDMANN

Young Composer Celebrates The Release Of THE HILLS RUN RED On CD

(November 16, 2009- Burbank, CA) – Composer Frederik Wiedmann is proud to
announce the release of The Hills Run Red – Original Motion Picture
Soundtrack, available on Varese Sarabande. This release is the second time a
soundtrack composed by Wiedmann has been released on CD, the first being
2007’s Return To House On Haunted Hill, also available on Varese Sarabande.

Frederik Wiedmann began his film music studies in Boston at Berklee College of
Music where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Scoring (Suma Cum Laude) in
2004. That same year he earned the BMI Film Scoring Award 2004. He began
working for composer John Frizzell (Office Space, Alien Resurrection) as
orchestrator, score mixer, arranger, programmer and eventually as co-producer
and co-composer. Credited on the Defiance, Ohio soundtrack as “the guy who
keeps it together,” Wiedmann has continues to work with Frizzell on upcoming
films like Legion and Whiteout while making a name for himself composing for
films like Return to House on Haunted Hill and Cyrus.
The film’s director, Dave Parker, initially told Wiedmann he didn’t want a
traditional horror score for the film. But Wiedmann felt otherwise. “Soon
after sharing both our ideas about the music,” said Wiedmann, “Dave and I
quickly realized that the right thing for the film is a score on a larger scale,
with orchestral elements, and electronic layers on top of it. We found that
themes are necessary for the story, as well as iconic sounds, that are unique to
certain characters.”
To accomplish the perfect balance between a more traditional score and the
director’s vision, Wiedmann utilized more unconventional orchestrations
(larger viola section than violins) with experimental instrumentations
(dulcimer, string drums, different woodwinds), performed by the Czech Film
Orchestra and featuring vocals by Ayana Haviv on “Desiderio” and the final
track “Phantasmagorical Holocaust.”
Wiedmann described, “This final scene in the film needed a grand, operatic,
yet horrific and at the same time eerie composition, to really convey the
emotions that the main character, Tyler, is going through. Ayana turned out to
be a perfect match; her voice has both an ethnic touch as well as an operatic
feel. Dave [Parker, director] was a big part of this vocal session and directed
the vocalist to the right sound.”
The result pleased both composer and director. “With film I want the viewer
to be thrilled, disturbed, scream, and cover their eyes,” said Parker. “But
don’t cover your ears or you will miss out on all the great music that lies
within.”

You heard the story. The one about the goriest, bloodiest splatter fest ever,
the one made in the ‘80s but mysteriously lost. Flash forward to now: Young
fright fans search for the secret location where the movie is shot, hoping to
find the film. What they find is that the mysterious shocker flick was more than
a movie. It’s real. And they’re its newest stars. The Hills Run Red
with a whole new level of horror as the terrified cinephiles confront a demented
killer who wears a nightmarish babydoll mask. Wait, Babyface is just a character
from the movie, right? Wrong. He’s alive. He’s waiting. And he’s thrilled
to meet fans who will die – slowly, gruesomely, shockingly – for his art.
Roll camera!

Warner Premiere presents a Dark Castle Home Entertainment Production The Hills
Run Red, is currently available on DVD. The Varese Sarabande soundtrack The
Hills Run Red, containing original music composed by Frederik Wiedmann is
available in stores and via iTunes.

LAKESHORE RECORDS TO RELEASE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
FOR COEN BROTHER’S A SERIOUS MAN

Soundtrack Features Original Music by Carter Burwell With Performances By
Jefferson Airplane and Sidor Belarsky

(October 27, 2009- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the
original soundtrack for The Coen Brother’s A SERIOUS MAN, available digitally
(iTunes and Amazon Digital) on November 3rd and in stores on November 10, 2009.
Longtime composer for the Coens, Carter Burwell (Gods and Monsters, In Bruges),
composed the original music. Also featured on the soundtrack are three
Jefferson Airplane tracks (“Somebody to Love,” “Comin’ Back to Me,”
and “Today”) and world renowned Yiddish music performer Sidor Belarsky
(“Dem Milner’s Trern”).

Composer Carter Burwell began composing for film in the mid-1980s for the Coen
Brothers first feature film, Blood Simple. This has lead to a twenty year
collaboration on such films as Fargo, The Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy,
Raising Arizona and No Country for Old Men. He also composed additional music
for the Coens’ O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which brought him a BAFTA Award
nomination. His score for their most recent film, Burn After Reading, earned him
the International Film Music Critics award for Best Original Score for a Comedy
Film. Burwell’s credits also include Being John Malkovich, Before Night
Falls, Velvet Goldmine, The Spanish Prisoner, and Three Kings.

A SERIOUS MAN is the story of an ordinary man's search for clarity in a universe
where Jefferson Airplane is on the radio and F-Troop is on TV. It is 1967, and
Larry Gopnik (Tony Award™ nominee Michael Stuhlbarg), a physics professor at a
quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith (Sari
Lennick) that she is leaving him. She has fallen in love with one of his more
pompous acquaintances, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed), who seems to her a more
substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larry's unemployable brother Arthur
(Richard Kind) is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny (Aaron Wolff) is a
discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah
(Jessica McManus) is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a
nose job.

While his wife and Sy Ableman blithely make new domestic arrangements, and his
brother becomes more and more of a burden, an anonymous hostile letter-writer is
trying to sabotage Larry's chances for tenure at the university. Also, a
graduate student seems to be trying to bribe him for a passing grade while at
the same time threatening to sue him for defamation. Plus, the beautiful woman
next door torments him by sunbathing nude. Struggling for equilibrium, Larry
seeks advice from three different rabbis. Can anyone help him cope with his
afflictions and become a righteous person - a mensch - a serious man?

Focus Features presents A SERIOUS MAN in select theaters on October 2, 2009. A
SERIOUS MAN original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available via
iTunes and Amazon Digital on November 3, 2009 and in stores on November 10,
2009.

Tarô Iwashiro is an accomplished film composer and his scores include Shinobi:
Heart Under Blade, Azumi and Memories Of Murder.

Legendary action-cinema master John Woo and international superstar Tony Leung
reunite for the first time since the 1992 classic HARD BOILED in RED CLIFF, the
epic historical drama based on a legendary 208 A.D. battle that heralded the end
of the Han Dynasty.

RED CLIFF opens as power hungry Prime Minister-turned-General Cao Cao (Zhang
Fengyi) seeks permission from the Han dynasty Emperor to organize a
southward-bound mission designed to crush the two troublesome warlords who stand
in his way, Liu Bei (You Yong) and Sun Quan (Chang Chen). As the expedition gets
underway, Cao Cao's troops rain destruction on Liu Bei's army, forcing him into
retreat. Liu Bei's military strategist Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) knows
that the rebels’ only hope for survival is to form an alliance with rival
warlord Sun Quan, and reaches out to Sun Quan’s trusted advisor, war hero Zhou
Yu (Tony Leung). Vastly outnumbered by Cao Cao’s brutal, fast-approaching
army, the warlords band together to mount a heroic campaign – unrivaled in
history – that changes the face of China forever. A massive hit in Asia and
the most expensive Asian film production of all time, RED CLIFF is a
