*DORO** **PESCH***
has just released her "Classic Diamonds" collection in the U.S. in CD/DVD
formats via Locomotive Music. The CD features nine revamped Doro classics
newly recorded by Doro with the help of The Metal Classic Night Orchestra,
including such favourites as "I Rule The Ruins", "Metal Tango", "All We
Are", "Fur Immer", "Burn It Up", "Tausend Mal Gelebt", "I'm In Love With
You", "Undying" and "Love Me In Black". Four new songs grace the
groundbreaking collection: "Breaking the Law" (a cover of the Judas Priest
standard done as a duet with Accepts Udo Dirkschneider), "Let Love Rain on
Me" (a beautiful soulful ballad; also the lead song on a
simultaneously-released seven-song EP), the instant-anthem "Always Live to
Win" and "She's Like Thunder" (dedicated to Doro's best friend, undefeated
female boxing champion Regina Halmich). The DVD features a 43-minute,
eight-song "Live in Wacken" concert spot from the prestigious Wacken Open
Air 2004 festival, where Doro performs with her band and with The Metal
Classics Night Orchestra. Musical guests include Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron
Maiden) & Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra). Following the
concert is a 15-minute "Impressions of the Tour," an intimate backstage
look, complete with interviews. "Live in Hamburg" follows with over an hour
of concert footage. The DVD ends with an hour of "Extras" that include the
"Let Love Rain on Me" video, a special "the making-of" about the video, as
well as television appearances. The release of the DVD/CD of "Classic
Diamonds", as well as the release of the "Let Love Rain on Me" EP which
features Doro singing in Spanish ("Llueva En Mi Tu Amor") & French ("Pluie
D'Amour") raises the level of Doro artistry to new heights.
*GWAR*
are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their rebirth on Earth with a
triumphant tour of their most depraved stomping grounds. Beginning Oct. 7 &
lasting until everything is dead, North America shall reel under the savage
assault of Gwar, the most dangerous band in this or any other universe.
Fresh from their glorious participation in the ultra-sick Sounds of the
Underground tour, everybody's favorite Antarctican war-gods will crush the
cities of man one by one until the people of Earth are reduced to quivering
piles of molten flesh.
"There have been abundant rumors of a hideous summoning, and the great beast
T-Rex Gor Gor stirs in his subterranean lair," said spokesman & lead
throat-thing Oderus Urungus. "We will harness our gore-flecked war machines
as Gwar returns with a devastating 20th anniversary tour, damning all
humankind to an eternal doom of pus-drenched necro-bestial nasal violation!"
Since 1985 Gwar has unleashed over ten albums & countless video's in their
long & tarnished history on Earth, and have even been nominated for two
completely meaningless Grammy awards. In 2004 and 2005 the band released of
some of their most successful efforts to date, the much-lauded "War Party",
& their first-ever live album, "Live from Mt. Fuji", respectively. The band
also terrorized the masses in a special guest slot on this summer's Sounds
of the Underground tour, gaining legions of new fans. In 20 unmatched years
of metallic majesty, Gwar has set the standard for all things that are loud,
smelly, & generally obnoxious, & shall continue their reign of supreme
dominance of Earth until the planet is reduced to a seething mudball!
*QUEEN*
Launch Radio Networks reports: Some people are wondering whether Queen will
be the next band featured on the "Rock Star" TV series, but Brian May says
forget about it. On the official BrianMay.com website, the guitarist wrote,
"Ha! Apparently they are voting on us being in the next show?!!! Ha! Ha! Can
you imagine? I don't think so! For any number of reasons...so don't bother
voting for us, folks!! I mean, REALLY!!! (As Fred would have said!)." Queen
has toured this year with Bad Company front man Paul Rodgers on lead vocals,
they recently put out a live album called "Return of the Champions", & a DVD
is on the way. Two U.S. shows will be played next month; the group will do a
proper Nth American tour next year. "Rock Star" producer Mark Burnett, the
man behind "Survivor" & "The Apprentice", told The Edmonton Sun that Queen &
Van Halen are among the bands who need a front-man, but he stopped short of
announcing either one as doing the show. Burnett also said the show could
wind up putting together an all-new group. Inxs used the show to pick J.D.
Fortune to be their front man. Their first single is "Dirty Vegas", which
Fortune sang on "Rock Star" a few times, it will be available on iTunes next
Tuesday (Oct. 4). A new album called "Switch" will be released Nov.29, and a
tour will star in January.
*AMORPHIS*
Completed the final mix for their new album on Saturday, September 24 at
Finnvox Studios in Helsinki with Mikko Karmila (who previously worked with
the group on their "Am Universum" CD). The follow-up to last year's "Far
from the Sun" was recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki with engineer
Nino Laurenne (Thunderstone). The production duties were handled by the band
and Marco Hietala (Nightwish) for vocals. Commented bassist Niclas
Etelävuori: "[The new CD is] atmospheric & heavy. Tomi Joutsen did a
fantastic job on the vocals; he's doing clean vocals & growling like never
before. We all feel very strong about this album; we can't wait for people
to hear it." The as-yet-untitled effort will be released worldwide in
February 2006 by Nuclear Blast.
*PANTHEON I*
The Norwegian extreme metal band featuring vocalist/guitarist Andrè
Kvebek(1349) & guitarist
John Espen Sagstad (Abiotic) have parted ways with drummer Eirik Renton
(Sarkom). "Eirik decided to leave Pantheon I in May 2005 as he felt he had
lost his inspiration to play drums in extreme metal," the group write in a
statement. "We want to thank Eirik for the time spent, & the impact on the
band & our music. We wish him all the best of luck in the future! "This
summer we have auditioned for a new drummer, & Eirik's replacement has been
found! Our new drummer is Dan Theobald from U.K. black metallers Twisted
Autumn Darkness." Pantheon I recently completed work on their debut album,
"Atrocity Divine", tentatively due late 2005/early 2006 via World Chaos
Productions. The artwork was handled by Kjell Åge Meland (who was also
responsible for the art on the band's seven-inch single). Pantheon I had
previously released a four-song demo, titled "MMIII", in April 2003. A
limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single — which includes the tracks "Is This
A Prophecy?" & "Transparent" — was made available via the group's official
web site last year.
*KROKUS*
front-man Marc Storace will be Alice Cooper's special guest on Cooper's
radio show "Nights with Alice Cooper" airing on Wednesday, September 28. The
program is a classic-rock format & is nationally syndicated on the United
Stations Radio Networks. Air times differ, so make sure to check out
NightsWithAliceCooper.com for more information. Krokus are in the middle of
their first U.S. tour since 1988. The tour, like the group's recent "Fire &
Gasoline" live album, features all the old Krokus hits and fan favourites
from "Heatstrokes" & "Longstick Goes Boom" to "Midnite Maniac", the power
ballad "Screaming In The Night", "Night Wolf", "American Woman" and others
off their biggest albums like "Headhunter" & "The Blitz". They will follow
this mini-tour with a bigger U.S. tour in early 2006 in support of a new
album. Krokus recently spent time in the studio working on the follow-up to
2003's "Rock the Block", tentatively due in early 2006. The group's current
line-up includes Storace, Mandy Meyer (guitar), Patrick Aeby (drums),
Dominique Fave (guitar) and Tony Castell (bass).
*AUDIOSLAVE*
Singer Chris Cornell and his wife, Vicky, are expecting a son in November,
according to InsideBayArea.com. The child will be the second for the couple,
who have a one-year-old daughter named Toni. Cornell also has a
five-year-old daughter named Lily from his previous marriage to
ex-Soundgarden manager Susan Silver. The news about the impending arrival
was part of an interview in which Cornell mostly discussed Audioslave's
historic trip to play in Havana, Cuba last May. Cornell said that Cuban
dictator Fidel Castro went on TV every day to speak out against
Americaduring their stay. "He just complained & complained the whole
time we were
there...But it didn't make any difference in terms of how our day went,
because nobody there cared where we were from," he said. A CD/DVD document
of the trip & concert, called "Live in Cuba", will be out on Oct. 11.
Audioslave
began a headlining arena tour of North America on Saturday night (September
24) in Bakersfield, California. Seether & 30 Seconds to Mars are the opening

In other news: Jon Bon Jovi has slammed Tom Cruise, saying the actor has
"lost it". The rocker claims the heartthrob star "courts celebrity for the
sake of it" & he believes Tom's fiancée Katie Holmes is feeding off of his
star status. The rocker told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Some
people just court celebrity for the sake of it. People like Tom Cruise. He
was always a great actor, but I think the man's lost it. "You won't ever
catch me jumping up & down on Oprah going on about how I love this woman.
And then others start feeding off it. Suddenly Katie Holmes is on the cover
of magazines" The handsome singer also hot out at hotel heiress Paris Hilton
saying she is "famous for being infamous" He said: "Another one is Paris
Hilton Famous for being infamous & then the people who should be getting the
attention, people like Bob Dylan, aren't It's sad" "These people claim they
hate the intrusion that fame brings but then they bring it on themselves by
having huge entourages wherever they go, attracting attention to themselves"

thriller called Cry Wolf. Bon Jovi plays Rich Walker, a teacher at a private

release. It's a thriller. It's actually really good. Really good. It's a
pretty substantial role in a really good movie." Bon Jovi's previous acting
credits include U-571, Pay It Forward, & a guest role on TV's Ally McBeal. The
new Bon Jovi album, Have a Nice Day, comes out Tuesday (September 20th). On
Monday he'll perform at the Bon Jovi: Have a Nice Day Launch in New York
City, which will be broadcast live to 100 movie theaters around the country.
Bon Jovi kicks off a North American tour on November 2nd in Des Moines, Iowa
.
*ARCH ENEMY*
have reluctantly taken the decision to reschedule their September UK shows
to December 2005 due to the loss of the advertised and proposed support
bands. Dark Tranquillity recently pulled out of the tour, & despite all the
efforts of band, label & management, it has not been possible to find two
adequate International acts to replace them at such short notice. Arch Enemy
also announced their first ever Australian tour last week. We expect the
guys in Nov. Can't wait personally.
*THE STROKES*
Are putting the finishing touches to their third album. Tentatively titled
'First Impressions of Earth', the album is being mixed by Andy
Wallace(Nirvana, Prince,
Bruce Springsteen) & is scheduled for a January 2006 release date. The first

year

*DARK OBSCENITY*
The EP "Heretic" is now for free downloading (including the cover) in the
band's official site, www.dark-obscenity.tk <http://www.dark-obscenity.tk/>.
The band is already working in the new songs for a new CDR to be released in
2006. In related news, the Templaria reunion has been put on hold.
*MILLION DEAD*
Are to split after their current UK tour. In a statement, the band says:
"Million Dead are breaking up. After four years & two albums, we have
mutually decided that this is the best thing to do. Irreconcilable
differences within the band mean that it would be impossible to continue &
anyway, we'd rather leave a good-looking corpse...
*LACUNA COIL*
the Italian hard rock sensation, whose standout Active Rock singles for
"Heaven's A Lie" and "Swamped," led Billboard to name them one of last
year's biggest success stories - entered the studio on September 3rd to
begin tracking 'Karmacode', the highly anticipated follow-up to their
critically acclaimed commercial breakthrough album, 'Comalies'. The new
effort is currently being co-produced once again with Waldemar Sorychta &
Lacuna Coil & will be mixed by the acclaimed Ronald Prent (Rammstein, H.I.M.,
Iron Maiden). An early 2006 release is expected. Andrea Ferro (vocals)
describes the meaning behind the album's unique title: "When it came to
coming up with an album title I wanted to combine one 'old' word that is
spiritually connected with another that offers a link to our more 'modern'
times. If there were an actual translation of Karmacode it would be
something like 'spiritual DNA & the message behind it'. The title attempts
to balance our modern, overwhelming, self-centred, fast-paced lifestyles &
the desire we all have to live a more spiritual, more compassionate & more
fulfilling life." With three full-length albums & two EPs to their credit,
Lacuna Coil has ensured that each offering further enunciates the subtle,
solemn beauty the sextet creates. 'Comalies' maturely exhibits the
trademarked gothic overtones & poignant melancholy of their haunting musical
landscape. In early 2004, Lacuna Coil's successes were validated with an
invitation to participate in that year's Ozzfest, supporting such metal
stalwarts as Judas Priest, Slayer & Ozzy Osbourne himself. Additional summer
touring with P.O.D. & Ozzfest off-date performances with Dimmu Borgir &
Bleeding Through gave the band its busiest season yet. Led by the undeniably
captivating Cristina Scabbia (vocals), the group garnered mainstream acclaim
from such publications as Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Stuff,
among others. The group spent this summer performing at some of Europe's
premier festivals alongside such household names as Green Day, Incubus and
System of a Down, while completing the song writing process for the new
album. 'Karmacode' is shaping up to be the band's career defining release
and it will force the entire hard rock world to take notice.
*BACKYARD BABIES*
"Tinnitus + Live Live in Paris" 2CD will be released on October 17th, 2005.
The band just finished a sold out 4-week tour with Social Distortion all
over Europe in August 2005 and is one of the originators of the Swedish Punk
rock'n'Roll invasion (The Hellacopters, The Hives etc) since the late 80's.
The double CD set "Tinnitus + Live Live in Paris" contains the best songs
from each Backyard Babies album to date on CD1 & a tremendous live gig,
recorded May 2004 in Paris on CD2. "Tinnitus + Live Live in Paris" is an
overdue introduction to one of rock's unsung diamonds, it combines
experiences of the Backyard Babies' teenage years listening to The Clash,
Kiss, Dead Boys, Motley Crue, The Stooges, Hanoi Rocks & The Rolling Stones
with the rock n' roll circus experiences gained as a touring band. Abacus
Recordings were founded in 2003 in LA, California, as an imprint for Century
Media Records. In a very short time Abacus was established as one of the
most promising Hardcore/Punkrock labels & growing as a strong unit on its
own. This Backyard Babies compilation is the first European release,
followed in November by a new studio album from The Juliana Theory (an
Emorock band that already soled more than 100.000 copies in the US). 2006
will start with new releases by Sworn Enemy (on EU tour w/ Madballl this
October), Ignite & the long awaited Backyard Babies full-length album in
late spring.
*KREATOR*
Germany's most successful thrash metal act Kreator are about to bring out
an unusual release at the very beginning of the coming year: their album
success, 'Enemy Of God', is scheduled for re-release on Steamhammer/SPV in a
top-quality DVD edition in Dolby 5.1 surround sound with brand-new video
clips. Kreator front man Mille Petrozza: "Enemy of God is our best-produced
album to date, & the sound is clearly even more brutal in the Dolby surround
version." On top of various surprises, Kreator will present video clips by
star directors Jörg Buttgereit (renowned for his cult movie, 'Nekromantik'),
Richard Kern ('Fingered', Marilyn Manson, various photo art books) and Niels
Ruf ('Kamikaze' on German music channels, Viva & Viva 2, among others). And
then there will be two more sensations: 1. the first fully animated video
clip in the band's history (one of the few in the metal genre), & 2. The
Kreator TV show, introducing Mille Petrozza as few people know him. "I was
interested to see how such different directors as Richard Kern, Niels Ruf or
Jörg Buttgereit would interpret our music," comments band leader Mille
Petrozza, who also came up with the idea that spawned the project. "Our
sound is extreme, & these three artists create extreme video installations,
films & TV shows, each in their own style. The two elements go together." "I
used to scratch the band name on my school desk, & now we're shooting a clip
together".....says Niels Ruf about the project. And what about the fans?
What kinds of images go through their minds when they listen to Enemy of
God? That's a point that Mille has been interested in for a long time: "A
lot of people have their own DV camera & an editing program on their PC –
the production tools are in the hands of the fans at last. All we have to do
is bring their ideas out of them." As of now, anybody with a concept for a
video clip inspired by the song, 'Dying Race Apocalypse' (from 'Enemy Of
God'), is invited to put it into practice & send in the finished clip to the
record company (address see below). The winner will receive 1000 euros, &
his or her clip will be released on the upcoming DVD. If you only have a
good idea, but no money to realize it: not to worry. Mille promises: "I'll
read every treatment and every concept." So just jot down your idea & send
it in – & with a bit of luck you'll be rewarded with a production budget of
1000 euros & a release alongside a number of renowned clip producers! On top
of all that, there are 33 Kreator fan packages to be won, including the new
DVD & various merchandise items. The judges' decision is of course final.
For more information about the competition, see
www.kreator-terrorzone.de<http://www.kreator-terrorzone.de>, where you
will also find the registration form. Steamhammer/SPV will
advertise this unusual competition, not only in Germany's most important
heavy metal magazines, but also in trade magazines for digital media
productions, such as 'Mac' or 'Kameramann'. Register on the Kreator homepage
by mid-October & send in your clips by mid-November.
Please send your clips to the following address:

*LION'S SHARE*
Swedish melodic heavy metal masters Lion's Share have announced the
addition of singer Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors) to the group's ranks.
Johansson and the rest of the current Lion's Share line-up which includes
main man Lars Chriss (guitar), and recent addition Sampo Axelsson (bass;
ex-Glenn Hughes, Crawley) are currently writing material for a fifth album
to be released sometime during 2006. The songs written so far are being
described as "heavier and more straight-ahead with tons of energy and
attitude." In a statement confirming his addition to the Lion's Share
line-up, Johansson writes, "Lars Chriss called me up about two years ago and
asked if I was interested in joining Lion's Share. I felt honoured, of
course, and didn't need any second thoughts; Lion's Share is, for me, one of
the institutions in the metal business. From that moment, me, Lars and now
also Sampo, have been working with the song writing for the next album. Now,
finally, we have started the demo recordings and the result so far is
goddamn amazing! "Some of you may know that I've done a couple of things the
last two or three years: Space Odyssey, Wuthering Heights and Astral
Doors."I want to make one thing perfectly clear: Space Odyssey and Wuthering
Heights are like session jobs to me. My two main bands are Astral Doors and
Lion's Share. Make no mistake about that! "I hope, and truly believe, that
this new mark in the great career of Lion's Share will appeal to the old
fans and bring a lot of new ones as well. See you on the road!"

*CELTIC FROST*
Front-man Tom Fischer has posted the following message in his official
blog: "Walking the last few hundred yards towards my home after the final
intensive sessions at Oakland Recording couldn't have been more symbolic.
Gusts of wind from an approaching storm were bending the trees on both sides
of my path, and low, dark grey clouds raced across the sky, swallowing the
bleak, fading fall light as cold, tiny droplets of impending rain hit the
skin of my face. As if a harbinger of the reactions to the work we had at
long last just concluded. My MP3 player had launched into playing Neil Young's
1969 recording of 'Running Dry', the title of which describes my current
state to perfection. I am utterly spent, exhausted physically and mentally,
although now in a state of strange calm, contentment, and tranquility. How
good it felt to leave the studio this evening, knowing I will not have to go
back to work on this album again. At last. At last! This Schweizer, the
assistant engineer in these final sessions, a death metal singer in his own
right, said that it had become an album that grows and reveals new things
with each listen. His face, his voice, revealed appreciation, astonishment,
and bewilderment, all at the same time. It was the same with Walter, our
close friend and Celtic Frost's engineer for so many years, who,
theoretically, should be used to our immoderation by now. The album will be
mastered at the end of this coming week, and it will then pass into the
hands of our management. Our work on its music has come to a conclusion,
finally, after years of writing, rehearsing, and demoing, discarding,
recording. And not a week, a day, an hour, a minute too soon. But I'm
pleased, although far too worn out to be jubilant. It is pretty much as it
needs to be. Who knows whether anybody else out there will like this album
or not. And some will hate it with a passion. They probably already hate it
now, before hearing it. Makes me chuckle. The situation now feels so much
like the first Hellhammer demo, which we knew would provoke radically
divided reactions.
But it is as it needs to be."
*AC/DC*
Will the next release from Ac/Dc be a double album? Front man Brian
Johnsontold us back in the spring that there was enough material for
it, and now
lead guitarist Angus Young is also saying it might happen. Young told Hit
Parader magazine, "We do have a lot of songs at the moment. But that's not
incredibly unusual for us. We tend to have a lot of material at some point
in the recording process, and then begin to whittle it down. But this time,
we like a lot of what we're hearing, so the idea of expanding things out is
not out of the realm of possibility." The album will likely come out early
next year, and the band will launch a major world tour behind it. Ac/Dc's
last studio album was Stiff Upper Lip, which came out in February 2000. They
released a video compilation called Family Jewels earlier this year.
Johnsonsang Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" with Velvet Revolver last
week at a
Hurricane Katrina benefit the group staged in Orlando, Florida.
According to Crabsody in Blue, Ac/Dc front man Brian Johnson will make a
cameo appearance in the upcoming movie "Goal!" Directed by Danny Cannon ("I
Still Know What You Did Last Summer", "Judge Dredd"), the film's plot
summary is as follows (as reported by IMDB.com): "Like millions of kids
around the world, Santiago harbours the dream of being a professional
footballer. However, living in the Barrios section of Los Angeles, he thinks
it is only that a dream. Until, one day an extraordinary turn of events has
him trying out for Premiership club Newcastle United." Watch a trailer for
the movie at the film's official web site.
In other news: Organizers of World's Largest AC/DC Convention Seek Fan
Contributions. In a bid to bring fans together and celebrate Ac/Dc, Eat Cat
2 Productions the organizers of the Big Ball, the world's largest Ac/Dc
convention plan to put a book together made up of fans memories of gigs. If
you (or someone you know) attended any Ac/Dc gig in the '70s, in any
country, and would be interested in sharing your memories and pictures with
other fans, then please send an enquiry to BigBallBook@... & you
will receive an e-mail with further information.
*NONPOINT*
A brand-new track, entitled "Bullet with a Name", has been posted online at

*CATHEDRAL*
Contrary to previous reports, the Japanese version of the new Cathedral
album, "The Garden of Unearthly Delights" which is scheduled for release on
October 26 will NOT include a bonus track. The CD will be issued in North
America in January. More details about the Japanese version of the CD can be
found at www.HMV.co.jp <http://www.hmv.co.jp/>. Audio samples of the entire
album can be found at this location. Produced by Warren Ryker (Down,
Crowbar), "The Garden of Unearthly Delights" is said to be the band's "most
varied effort so far." Using every stylistic device from female vocals up to
violins & embedding it all in that typical Cathedral brand of doom, "The
Garden of Unearthly Delights" is a treat for every fan of the band, old and
new alike. The follow-up to 2002's "The VIIth Coming", "The Garden of
Unearthly Delights" will once again feature the epic artwork of
long-standing Cathedral sleeve artist Dave Patchett.
*AETERNUS*
Guitarist/vocalist Ares of Norwegian "dark metallers" Aeternus has posted
the following message on the group's official web site: "Aeternus are now
mixing [the new album] 'HeXaeon'. We'll be working every night and so far
the drums are more or less done. Things are going well and as for now, we
see or have no obstacles delaying the release." The follow-up to 2003's "A
Darker Monument", "Hexaeon" was recorded at Grieghallen Studios in
Norwayand was once produced by Eirik "Pytten" Hundvin, who has
previously worked
with Enslaved and Mörk Gryning, among others. Aeternus recently acquired a
new session guitarist by the name of Dreggen.
*UNLEASHED*
Have uploaded two live video clips on their official web site. Check out
"Victims of War" (Windows Media) recorded earlier this year (August 26-27)
at the Up From The Ground festival in Germany, and "Never Ending Hate"
(Windows Media) filmed in 1994 during the "Full Of Hate" Easter festival
tour. Unleashed filmed their entire performance at the Up From The Ground
festival for their upcoming full-length DVD, tentatively due next year.
Unleashed had also shot their July 1 concert at the With Full Force festival
in Leipzig, Germany for the as-yet-untitled disc. Unleashed are currently
finishing up the Harvest Festival 2005 European tour with Nile, Pungent
Stench, Behemoth, Incantation and Belhegor. The band are continuing to tour
in support of their seventh studio album, "Sworn Allegiance", which was
released last fall through Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2002's
"Hell's Unleashed" was recorded and mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome
Studios and mastered by Peter In de Betou of Tailor Maid Productions (Dimmu
Borgir, Amon Amarth, Katatonia).
*ANATHEMA*
guitarist/vocalist Vincent Cavanagh has issued the following statement via
the group's official web site: "To everyone planning to turn up at the clubs
in Istanbul [Friday night] (Sept. 16) and in Athens (Sept. 18),
unfortunately I have had to pull out. This is because I don't wanna miss out
on rehearsing or playing our concert in London on the 19th. While I was
really looking forward to playing a load of my favourite tunes, and getting
a party going, I've got to get my priorities right. Maybe these DJ sets can
be put back to a later date, at the moment I don't know. But we may come
back to Turkey and Greece in some capacity sooner than you think... so watch
this space. Again, i apologise to everyone who wanted to go. Have a great
weekend anyway." As previously reported, Anathema will be opening for
Finnish goth-metallers H.I.M. at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London on
Monday, September 19. Anathema are currently writing and recording new
material at Sewerside Studios in Yorkshire, U.K. for a tentative 2006
release. The band recently issued a DVD, "Were You There?", containing a
full live show recorded on Anathema's "A Natural Disaster" tour, an acoustic
concert performed with a string quartet from the Liverpool Philharmonic
Orchestra, plus videos, live clips and other extra features. The artwork and
menu designs have been conceived by Travis Smith.
*CANNIBAL CORPSE*
are scheduled to enter Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida on October
17 with producer Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) to begin recording
their tenth album, tentatively due in early 2006 via Metal Blade Records.
"The recording and mixing should be complete by December, and the album's
release date will hopefully be sometime in March of 2006," the band write in
a statement. "After the release, we look forward to getting out on the road
and performing for all of our great fans worldwide. "As for the new album,
we are doing everything we can to make sure it's the heaviest, most brutal
one we've ever made. We have 11 songs completed and if possible we'd like to
write one or two more before entering the studio." Cannibal Corpse have yet
to announce a permanent replacement for guitarist Jack Owen, who left the
band in 2004. The group have been utilizing session musicians for their
recent touring activities, including Jeremy Turner (ex-Origin) and Rob
Barrett (who played with the band from 1993 to 1997 and appeared on "The
Bleeding" and "Vile" albums).
*STONE **TEMPLE** **PILOTS***
bassist Robert DeLeo and his wife Kristen DeLeo, who welcomed the arrival
of their new baby, Duke Vincent, on August 7, 2005. Duke came in weighing 7
lbs. and sporting a full head of black hair. Robert DeLeo is believed to
have formed a new project with brother and fellow former Stone Temple Pilots
member Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Filter main man Richard Patrick. Veteran
session drummer Ray Luzier is apparently leaving ex-Van Halen singer David
Lee Roth's tour to join the group, which reportedly has signed a deal with
Columbia Records.
*SLAYER*
fans wishing to have a hand in naming Mediaskare Records' upcoming tribute
album dedicated to the Los Angeles thrashers are encouraged to send their
album title suggestions via a special MySpace.com page. In addition, video
clips of New Dead Radio recording "South of Heaven" and The Burning Room
laying down a version of "Mandatory Suicide" have been posted online at the
same location. Videos are set to be added weekly to the page to document the
making of this unique compilation. Set for an early 2006 release, the
collection is set to have song contributions from the following artists:
Asesino (featuring ex-Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares), Silent Civilian
(featuring former Spineshank front-man Jonny Santos), Death By Stereo, On
Broken Wings, Scars Of Tomorrow, The Esoteric, Cold War, The Taste Of Blood,
New Dead Radio, Contra, The Human Abstract, The Burning Room, In This
Moment, Suicide Silence, A Different Self, plus more to be announced. In
2003, a similarly themed tribute was released by Spook City. The
compilation, titled "Cover in Blood" included performances by MOST Precious
Blood and Sworn Vengeance, but tracks were confined to the material from
Slayer's classic "Reign in Blood" album.
*COUNT RAVEN*
Swedish doom masters Count Raven will have all four of their albums
remastered and re-released through the German label Cyclone Empire before
the end of the year. The first two releases — "Storm Warning" and
"Destruction of the Void" — will arrive on October 14, to be followed by
"High on Infinity" and "Messiah of Confusion" on November 11. The albums are
being remastered by Achim Köhler (Accept, Psychotic Waltz, Steel Prophet,
Voivod, Brainstorm, Primal Fear, etc.), and will feature bonus tracks, liner
notes, special booklets, and in one instance ("Messiah Of Confusion"),
completely new artwork. And as if this wasn't enough, a special box set is
planned for release sometime in 2006, featuring many rare and unreleased
songs, clips and live performances (DVD and CD). Last but not least: Count
Raven are currently working on new material for their fifth album, to be
released sometime next year. Since signing a worldwide deal with Cyclone
Empire at the end of 2004, Count Raven have performed at several European
festivals (Wacken, Keep It True, Belgian Doom Night) and have completed a
short Finnish tour with their friends Mirror Of Deception.
*SOIL*
have signed an exclusive recording deal with New York-based DRT
Entertainment. The band will head to Los Angeles next month to begin
recording their new album, which is currently slated for release in early
2006. Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Taproot) has been tapped as producer. "It is
great to finally be on a label that has other rock acts," said guitarist
Shaun Glass in a statement. "With a new singer and new record label, we feel
like we have a clean slate to start from and truly make this new album
something to be proud of," added bassist Tim King. "I am very proud that
SOIL has become a new member of the DRT family," said DRT co-principal Derek
Shulman in a statement. "They are one of the most motivated and dedicated
rock bands I have ever been involved in. Soil will be a cornerstone band on
the roster and we look forward to much success for the new album early next
year." Soil's follow-up to last year's "Redefine" will be the group's first
CD to feature singer AJ Cavalier, who previously fronted the
California-based Diesel Machine (also featuring ex-Damageplan front man
Patrick Lachman on guitar). The band's original vocalist, Ryan McCombs, has
since joined the Texas act Drowning Pool.
*TEMPLEWITHIN*
the new band featuring Fates Warning drummer Mark Zonder, Michael Schenker
Group guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Findlay and ex-Tribe Of Gypsies singer
Gregg Analla, have issued the following update: "Things are going well with
securing a proper label for the band. We will start recording the album in
the middle of October. We have decided to have Joe Marlett engineer and mix
the album. Joe's skills will be a very important part of our sound. We are
very excited with what he will contribute to the final product. Stay tuned."
Templewithin have uploaded several photos and audio clips of the songs
"Swept Away" and "Deeper" at Zonder's official web site.
*KORN*
have reportedly set "See You On the Other Side" as the title of their new
album, due on December 6 via Virgin Records. The band's front man, Jonathan
Davis, stated in a Swedish interview conducted last Friday (Sept. 16) that
the follow-up to 2003's "Take a Look in the Mirror" will contain 14 tracks.
In addition, there will be a "special edition" of the album with 17 original
songs (out of a total of 20 laid down during the recording sessions for the
new CD), plus video material. Korn's new effort was produced by Matrix (
Avril Lavigne, The Mooney Suzuki) and Atticus Ross (Bad Religion, Pink) and
was mixed by Terry Date, who has previously worked with such artists as
Deftones, Pantera and Soulfly, among others. Song titles expected to appear
on the CD include "Twisted Transistor" (first single), "Liar", "Politix",
"Last Legal Drug", "Le Petit Mort", "It's Me Again", "Coming Undone", "I've
Seen It All" and "Souvenir of Sadness". Korn's last release, "Greatest Hits,
Vol. 1" (Immortal/Epic), featuring highlights from the first 10 years of the
band's recording career, has sold 974,000 copies in the United States,
according to Nielsen SoundScan.
*NIRVANA*
Unreleased Tracks To Surface On 'Sliver' Compilation - Sep. 21, 2005
RollingStone.com is reporting that three previously unreleased Nirvana songs
will surface November 1 when Geffen/Universal issue "Sliver", a compilation
of Nirvana rarities and demos. The twenty-two-track CD will be rounded out
with material from "With the Lights Out", the Nirvana box set released last
November. "Sliver" marks the first time Frances Bean Cobain, the 13-year-old
daughter of late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, has taken
an active role in her father's legacy. "We're pulling Frances into the
family business," Love told RollingStone.com. In addition to helping select
the title, Frances Bean also played a role in choosing the cover image. "
Courtney and I involve Frances in Nirvana/Kurt decisions whenever we can,"
says Peter Asher, who manages Love and the Cobain estate. "She's very
perceptive and has cool ideas."
*DEVILDRIVER*
will be direct support to Gwar on their upcoming North American tour that
will also feature A Dozen Furies and Mensrea. Beginning on October 7 in
Sayreville, NJ and running through November 11 in Seattle, WA, the tour will
traverse the United States playing storied venues, including the Palladium
in Worcester, MA, the House of Blues in Chicago and Harpo's in Detroit. "Being
on the road is where we like to be," says lead singer Dez Fafara. "Out
there, meeting our fans and playing the heaviest music we can is our idea of
a good time, and that we get to do this with one of our favorite bands in
GWAR is just plain awesome." Devildriver is touring in support of their
sophomore album, "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand", which debuted at No. 1 on
Billboard's Heatseeker's chart. The band will ramp up for the tour with four
warm-up shows from September 25 – October 5. The band most recently toured
the states as part of the inaugural Sound of the Underground tour with
Clutch, Lamb Of God and label mates Chimaira and Opeth. Says Fafara, "Sounds
was a summer-long barbecue. The bands were fun and the fans were
great." Released
on June 28, "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand" debuted at No. 117 on Billboard's
Top 200 album charts and No. 17 on the Top Hard Rock chart. Additionally the
album soared to No. 1 on the Metal/College Radio and Specialty charts while
the video for "Hold Back the Day" continues to receive repeated spins on
MTV2 and Fuse. Devildriver formed in 2002 after the demise of front man Dez
Fafara's former project, Coal Chamber. In 2003 they released their
self-titled, debut album and participated in the 2004 Ozzfest tour. Recently
the band toured with Machine Head and Superjoint Ritual. Devildriver is
Fafara, drummer John Boecklin, bassist Jon Miller and guitarists Jeffrey
Kendrick and Mike Spreitzer. For a complete listing of upcoming Devildriver
tour dates, visit Devildriver.com <http://Devildriver.com>.
*KALEDON*
have recruited director Riccardo Ponis (Kardia, Astarte Syriaca) to direct
their video for the track "Mighty Son of the Great Lord". The clip will be
shot on October 1 and will be edited and released by the middle of the
month. "Mighty Son of the Great Lord" comes off the group's latest album,
"The Way of the Light", available now on Steelborn Records. As previously
reported, the drum tracks for "The Way of the Light" were laid down in July
2004 at Alpha & Omega studios in Como, Italy by Stratovarius' Jörg Michael
(the band have since been rejoined by drummer David Folchitto). Kaledon
entered Giuseppe Orlando's The Outer Sound Studios last October to complete
work on the recordings. Lara Bertoli of Iron Maiden cover band Ed Hunter was
recruited to sing on a track entitled "Come with Me".
*DREAM EVIL*
have been rejoined by vocalist Niklas Isfeldt and bassist Peter Stålfors.
"Whatever the reason, the only important thing is that they are back in the
family again, and that we're getting ready to finally enter the studio to
record the new album and follow up the great success of 'The Book of Heavy
Metal'," drummer Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Memento Mori,
Notre Dame) said in a statement sent to Blabbermouth.Net. "A new chapter is
about to be written..." Isfeldt and Stålfors left DREAM EVIL in August,
citing "personal issues" and "constantly recurring health problems." They
were temporarily replaced by Jake E Berg and Tommy Larsson (ex-Jaggernaut,
Chastisement), respectively. Dream Evil's latest CD, "The Book of Heavy
Metal", was released last year through Century Media Records. The follow-up
to 2003's "Evilized", "The Book Of Heavy Metal" was recorded at Studio
Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and features special guest appearances by
ex-Yngwie Malmsteen keyboardist Mats Olausson (on the songs "Into The
Moonlight", "Crusaders' Anthem", "Chosen Twice" and "Unbreakable Chain") and
Halford/Painmuseum guitarist "Metal" Mike Chlasciak. DREAM EVIL features in
its ranks acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordström (Hammerfall, In Flames, Dimmu
Borgir, Spiritual Beggars, etc.).

*SATYRICON*
have posted the following message on their official web site: "Sorry for
not keeping touch lately, but we've been busy working! We are in middle of
pre-production for our new album and we will start recording October 17th in
Puk Studio in Denmark where we did most of 'Volcano'. We aim to finish the
album in January followed by a late spring release. This means we should be
ready to do a big festival run throughout the summer and hit the clubs in
the fall. Things change and they can change fast too in this industry, but
this is what we plan to do as it looks now. We'll keep you posted about this
and other projects we are working on too, throughout the fall." Satyricon's
North American tour was cut short last December after guitarists Steinar
Gundersen and Arnt Gronbech were charged with giving a fan a date-rape drug
and sexually assaulting her in a tour bus following a Dec. 15, 2004 concert
in Toronto. Satyricon were about two-thirds through a North American "Return
of the Antichrist Tour" in support of the U.S. release of their 2002 CD
"Volcano", a chart-topping, award-winning album in Norway. It has been
released in North America on the EatURmusic imprint headed up by System Of A
Down guitarist Daron Malakian and distributed by Columbia, a division of
Sony Music.

Anniversary show, which took place on June 16 at The Hammersmith Apollo in
London, U.K. Girlschool are continuing to tour in support of their
first-ever live DVD, "Girlschool Live at the Garage", and their 2004 album,
"Believe".
*KISS *
drummer Peter Criss has uploaded at his official web site a number of
personal photos taken throughout this past summer. Among the photos posted
on the site are pictures with Lenny Kravitz and members of Mötley Crüe.
Check them out at this location.
http://www.petercriss.net/homepage/sub/summeroffun001.html Criss is
currently putting the finishing touches on a new solo CD, which he hopes to
release early next year. "This is the first time I've ever done it all,
writing, arranging, singing, playing, editing, mixing and producing," Criss
& previously said about the upcoming effort. "I feel this is the best work
I've ever done. I've never worked so hard on a record. It's about life,
love, and ups and downs. Real Peter Criss!"
Gene Simmons has posted the following message on his official web site:
"Did an early-morning radio satellite tour (I stay on my phone and they
connect different radio stations in various cities) for the DVD release of
my Nickelodeon cartoon, 'My Dad The Rock Star'.
"Started making real headway regarding my plans to release the biggest box
set of them all — so far, to be called 'Gene Simmons Box Set' 100 songs. Met
with an entity that wants to step up to manufacture/market. More news soon.
Also in discussions regarding new TV ventures. 12 of 'em!!! "In deep
negotiations with a huge sports venture that will change the way business is
done. Which is what we're all about. Thinking outside the box. "Leaving at
the end of the week for England to finish series II of 'Gene Simmons Rock
School'. Different school. Different story. Same arrogant, in-your-face rock
star. Me. "Proud to say we have been 'picked up' (deal made) regarding a new
Gene Simmons reality show for the New Year. Filming starts November. And,
deal finalized for a new joint venture with Clear Channel. More news later.
"The fabulous Paula Abdul came by and pitched me a few ideas. And, more than
one of the ideas has 'legs' (potential can go the distance)... Looks like
setting up two of the ideas today. Meeting with three different buyers
(buyers are production studios, who would pay/and or deficit the cost of
producing a show, or a network/cable outlet that would pay a 'license fee'
either way, someone writes a check). "Met with Tag Heuer (the quality watch
company) about a line of expensive watches. Looks good.
"An English production company that has a show seen around the world, has
approached me about appearing in their show as of now, and unless/if they
show me more details, will probably not do it. "The top executive at NBC
TV's 'Extra' called and asked if I'd co-host the show with Mark McGrath.
Like the show. Will co-host. So, if you're near a TV set on Thursday, check
it out. Am assuming it'll be broadcast same day as shoot. "On Friday, Sept.
23rd, begin shooting location scenes for 'Gene Simmons Rock School II' in
L.A. Then off to England."
In other news: Norwegian Kiss tribute album, "Gods of Thunder – A Norwegian
Tribute to Kiss", has entered the Norwegian national album charts at
position No. 13. By comparison, "Alive III" peaked at No. 15, and as odd as
it might seem, albums like "Creatures of the Night", "Smashes Thrashes and
Hits", "Animalize" and "Carnival of Souls" never scaled such heights as this
tribute CD. In April of 2004, Gene Simmons' "Asshole" solo album debuted and
peaked at No. 23 on the Norwegian charts. Kiss Army has once again brought a
lot of attention to Kiss in Norway. The tribute album got maximum exposure
in the media, making entertainment headlines on national television, radio
and in newspapers. "Gods of Thunder – A Norwegian Tribute to Kiss" consists
of chart-topping and award-winning bands from Norway, including
million-selling artist Espen Lind, "World Idol" winner Kurt Nilsen (who beat
U.S. platinum artist Kelly Clarkson in last year's final) and Norwegian
superstars Wig Wam, with a guest appearance by former Kiss guitarist Bruce
Kulick. In addition to the music, the CD cover is quite historic and unique,
as it was designed by Ken Kelly, the man behind the original "Destroyer" and
"Love Gun" paintings. Prior to the release, executive producer Stig Karlsen
of Kiss Army claimed that this album was going to bring tribute CDs to a new
level, both musically and visually, and judging from the reviews and
response from the fans, he and his team might well have succeeded.
In Other News Paul Stanley Speaks About His Upcoming Solo Album: The album
should be done and ready to mix by mid May. Drumming on all the tracks to
date is Victor Indruzzo who has toured and recorded with Macy Gray, toured
with Beck and appears on various recordings by the Matrix production team.
Most of the guitars have been handled by Corky James who also is heard on
various recordings by the Matrix team including Avril Lavigne. In talking
about their contributions Paul raved, "Victor is just an amazing drummer who
can bash with the best of them while keeping a great groove going." As for
James, he added "Corky just blows me away with his parts and sounds." As far
as bass..."I've always been a big fan of Bruce Kulick's bass playing so it's
great to have him on some of the album." Keyboards have been handled by Russ
Irwin who has toured with both Sting and Aerosmith. "I've known Russ for
over 15 years before the Kiss/Aerosmith tour happened and his being a part
of the project seemed like a natural".Of course all the vocals are handled
by Paul. A few of the tracks recorded include "Wake Up Screaming," "Second
To None" and "Live To Win." Paul has been collaborating with Andreas
Carlsson and for the first time in 15 or so years, Desmond Child and said,
"It's magic." Paul went on to add, "From the songs to the playing and
singing, everything about this album is consistent without compromise. The
album is exactly who I am now and what I want to be doing. It's got all the
sides of what I do, so it's not surprising that it's got elements of
everything I've done plus a leap into the 21st century. I don't need to hype
it. I'll leave that to everyone else who's heard it."

*GUNS N' ROSES*
According to a recent article published by the Canyon News, Guns N' Roses
front man Axl Rose told a fan in Malibu, California a few weeks ago that the
group's long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy" will be released early
next year. In addition, he allegedly revealed that Guns N' Roses are looking
to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack. The film (more
information), based on Dan Brown's controversial best-selling novel, is
currently in production and stars Tom Hanks. "Chinese Democracy" will
feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's
contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End of Days". The group's
last studio album was a covers CD, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was
released in 1993. In March 2004, Geffen Records issued a Guns N' Roses
"Greatest Hits" album, which has since gone on to sell 2.36 million copies
in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Guns N' Roses singer
Axl Rose and fellow original members Slash and Duff McKagan tried to block
the "Greatest Hits" album's release by arguing in a lawsuit that Geffen
Records was putting out the CD without their input. Geffen officials
countered that they wouldn't have released the album if Rose had delivered
the long-promised album "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the works for
over 10 years.

*DEF** **LEPPARD***

The following update has been posted at Def Leppard's official web site:
"After a summer of extensive touring, and before two more months of playing
live shows, September seems to be the month when the guys aren't playing
live on stage. However, that's only partly true! Yes, on October 11 the
'Rock of Ages' tour will pick up again in Boston, but for those who can't
wait that long, there are two chances to see band members on stage.....just
not with their regular stage buddies! "We already reported that
Phil[Collen, guitar],
Simon Laffy and Paul Cook will be playing their very first show as Man-Raze
on September 27 at The Spitz in London. Tickets seem to be sold out at the
moment but there is a possibility that more will become available at We Got
Tickets, so keep checking their site. A day later, on September 28, you can
check out Vivian [Campbell, guitar] playing songs from his solo album at The
Mint in Los Angeles. This show promises to be an unique opportunity, as Viv
will be joined on stage by Terry Bozzio, Mark Browne, Bruce Cornett, Michael
Fell and Tor Hyams the exact same line-up that can be heard on [Vivian's
solo] album 'Two Sides of If'. Tickets are available at the venue, and can
be purchased through GrooveTickets soon. "And then after that, it's time for
the band to hit the road again.....some 18 dates have been announced so far
for October and November, with a handful more to come. On this leg of the
tour, there's three artists Def Leppard will be playing with. First of all,
Ricky Warwick [ex-The Almighty] returns, opening each show with songs from
his latest release 'Love Many Trust Few'. Then on some dates, following the
success of this summer's Rock & Roll Double Header tour, it will be a Bryan
Adams/Def Leppard double bill (with Def Leppard playing the late set). And
finally, late October and early November, none other than Cheap Trick will
be supporting. All confirmed dates can be found at the tour section of this
site. Next week, we hope to be able to announce three more shows for
November, as soon these are fully confirmed."
*JUDAS PRIEST:*
According to Amazon.com <http://Amazon.com> and several other online
retailers, Judas Priest will be releasing their new live DVD, "Rising in the
East", in the U.S. on November 8 via Rhino/WEA. PRIEST filmed and recorded
their May 18-19, 2005 shows at the Budokan in Tokyo, Japan for the
full-length concert DVD. The band used three cameras and two large screens
during the sold-out shows, which were attended by a total of 20,000 people.
In a June 2005 interview with the nationally syndicated radio show
"Rockline", Judas Priest front man Rob Halford confirmed the group's plans
to release one or more live DVDs documenting Priest's "Angel of Retribution"
tour. Halford said, "We had a wonderful moment recently where we played our
hometown in Birmingham, in the Midlands, and we played at the NEC, which is
like a big top-notch rock venue, and there were 10,000 metal maniacs there,
and we actually filmed that show. We also filmed a show at a famous venue in
Sweden called the Globe, and then more recently we filmed two nights at the
Budokan in Tokyo. So we're stock-piling all of this stuff, and eventually,
when we get a little break, we'll make sense of it all, and we'll start
feeding it out there. So you may get Priest at home in Birmingham, you might
get Priest 'Re-Unleashed in the East' [original working title] in Japan,
which is a nice idea, because as you know, that is one of our famous
releases 'Unleashed in the East'. We thought about this, because it was kind
of an anniversary trip back to Japan, so we actually DVDed and we ProTooled
recorded the whole show. So we're just amassing everything as we go along
we'll probably do the same here in America & then we'll bring out little
pieces, either a worldwide piece or a piece from one country, whatever,
we're gonna mix it up and just keep all the stuff going for the Priest fans
out there that can't get enough of this." Judas Priest is continuing to tour
in support of "Angel of Retribution", their first album with Halford in 15
years. "Angel of Retribution" was produced by Roy Z, who has previously
worked on solo albums from Halford and Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson.
*SAMMY** **HAGAR***
did what he does best last weekend to raise money for hurricane relief
efforts. He took to the stage on Saturday (Sept 10) for a quickly assembled
free performance with the house band at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San
Lucas, Mexico, where attendees donated more than $20,000. Hagar said, "I
want to thank the TNT house band for learning a bunch of my songs overnight
& to the Cabo Wabo fans that stood in line to support this event in the
brutally hot weather. To see the Cabo Wabo fill up with people wanting to do
their part for the cause made this night very special. I've played many
nights here this one will stand out. The important thing, though, is that we
got to the magic number $20K not bad for a little bar in Cabo." All the
money raised at the show went to Americares, the non-profit organization
that provides both immediate and long-term aid to people in disaster areas
around the world. More information is available at
americares.org<http://americares.org>
. Hagar is glad to help out whenever he's able, but he said that he's never
picked a cause with the idea of putting himself in the spotlight: "To me, it
stinks a little bit of trying to do something that makes you look cool & you
look good, & no you gotta do it for the right reason. You do it for those
people. It's all about trying to do something for somebody else when you do
that. That's just gotta be the reason you do it."
*QUEEN + **PAUL** **RODGERS***
Out today (Tuesday, September 13th) is Return Of The Champions, a live
album from the pairing this year of Queen + Paul Rodgers. It was recorded
May 9th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England, and it features a
combination of Queen material and songs from both Free and Bad Company.
Rodgers told us that he pretty much jumped at the chance to work with
guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor: "I think I hesitated for a
split second, but it just had felt so good, I, I don't think I hesitated
very long. The only thing that I did have to do was, I had to rearrange some
of my solo dates in order to accommodate this." Rodgers hooked up with May
last September at the Fender Stratocaster 50th anniversary concert in London,
and Taylor came on board last November at the U.K. Music Hall of Fame
induction ceremony. After that show, the trio decided to move forward on
their partnership, which led to a world tour, a live album, an upcoming DVD,
and shows this fall and again next year, with the next one coming in Aruba
on October 8th.

In other news: It's confirmed. RockStar has made it known there will be a
season two of the slow starting, but now high ranking RockStar television
show series. The band that has been signed for season two is none other than
Van Halen. Unable to reach Edward or Alex Van Halen for this exciting news,
Curlio was able to reach Van Halen's management. Management for Van
Halencan be quoted as saying, "We're stoked man!" No really, they did
confirm the
story. Insiders say that Eddie is "on the wagon" has just completed his on
again, off again relationship with the famous Betty Ford clinic. Friends say
he is sober and happy, and anxious to move forward. Curlio believes this is
a great way for Van Halen music to be re-exposed to the public, although we
are disappointed that Mark Anthony may not be part of the show.
*QUEENSRŸCHE*
have posted the following message on their official web site: "Due to
recording deadlines, we've had to officially cancel the Oct. 18th, 19th and
21st shows in Mexico. All tickets will be refunded, and we apologize for the
inconvenience." Queensrÿche are continuing work on the sequel to their
platinum 1988 concept album, "Operation: Mindcrime", tentatively titled
"Operation: Mindcrime II". An early 2006 release via Rhino Entertainment is
expected. "Bootleg"-quality live recordings of two tracks slated to appear
on the follow-up to 2003's "Tribe" "Hostage" & "I'm American" is available
for download at Queensryche.com <http://Queensryche.com>. Since their
formation in 1981 near Seattle, Queensrÿche have released eight studio
albums and have sold more than 10 million records worldwide. "Empire", the
1990 follow-up to "Operation: Mindcrime", sold more than three million
copies thanks in part to the enormous success of the songs "Silent Lucidity"
and "Jet City Woman". Released in 1994, "Promised Land" was certified
platinum and featured the hits "I Am I" and "Bridge". In a recent USA Today
reader's poll, Queensrÿche were ranked eighth on the list of "Greatest
American Rock Bands of All Time."

My Ruin are preparing to head out on the road in support of their upcoming
Rovena Recordings release, "The Brutal Language", due on September 27.
Rovena Recordings is the band's own label, which is marketed and distributed
by 33rd Street Records/Bayside Entertainment Distribution. The group's
current touring line-up includes new bassist Chris Lisee and drummer Jason
Brunk. The tour's kick-off concert at the Whisky in Hollywood, California on
September 23 will serve as the band's record-release party. The group will
be performing and early set at 10:00 p.m. and after their performance, will
be signing the new record and posters for their friends and fans.
*METALLICA*
The members of Metallica were in the studio today (Sept. 20) to record
their voices for an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons". The show will air
sometime in May 2006, so you have plenty of time to set those recorders.
More information will be made available soon. In the meantime, click here to
check out the pictures of the guys saying their lines. Metallica have been
keeping a relatively low profile since completing their world tour in late
2004. The band is expected to begin working on a new album sometime before
the end of this year.
*BLACK CROWES*
are donating the proceeds from an upcoming show to the ongoing work down on
the Gulf coast. They band will turn over money from their October 7th gig at
the Mud Island Amphitheatre in Memphis to the Hurricane Katrina relief
efforts, and they're asking fans to bring clothing and canned food to the
gig, which will be distributed to people affected by the storm and its
aftermath. Crowes manager Pete Angelus said, "We have all been profoundly
saddened and deeply moved by the tragic events that recently unfolded in the
Gulf Coast. In that regard, this will be the first of many efforts made by
the Black Crowes & as many of the 'Amoricans' in their loyal fan base that
care to be included to reach out and help the victims of Hurricane Katrina
and their families." The Crowes head back out on the road starting Friday
(Sept. 16th) in Telluride, Colorado.
*STAIND*
prepare for the next leg of U.S. headlining tour dates, the band's current
single, "Right Here", marks the fourth No. 1 track in as many years from the
multi-platinum group. The songfrom their current "Chapter V" album, which
entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 was a No. 1 track on both the
Active and Mainstream Rock radio charts. It follows "So Far Away" from
2003's "14 Shades of Grey" (No. 1 at Active, Mainstream Rock and
Alternative), plus "It's Been A While" (No. 1 at Mainstream Rock) and "For
You" (No. 1 at Active Rock) from 2001's "Break the Cycle". Meanwhile, Staind
are due to return to the road October 29 in Montreal, after which they'll
headline the "Fall Brawl Tour" with P.O.D., Taproot & Flyleaf from Nov 11
through Dec 13.
*BENEATH THE MASSACRE*
Canadian death metallers have been forced to drop out of their previously
announced Canadian tour with Neuraxis due an accident with their van. The
guys are reportedly safe, but the vehicle has sustained a lot of damage.
Neuraxis will proceed with the dates as scheduled.
A spokesperson for Beneath The Massacre has issued the following statement
regarding the matter: "I am sorry to announce that Beneath The Massacre will
not be able to do the Canadian tour because we've just crashed our van 45
minutes [outside] Thunder Bay: roll-overs at 100km/h...was not cool at all.
The guys look OK physically, but our van is a total waste and we're now
working hard to find a way to go back home. I hope everyone understands."
*NICKELBACK*
Tribute track "Side of a Bullet", which features a previously unheard
guitar solo from late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell
Abbott, has been posted online at VH1.com. "Side of a Bullet", which was
written by Nickelback front-man Chad Kroeger as a tribute to his fallen
friend, comes off Nickelbacks upcoming album, "All the Right Reasons", due
on Oct 4 via Roadrunner Records. Kroeger initially wanted Abbott's brother,
Pantera & Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul, to play drums on the track, but
Paul didn't think he could improve on Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair's
take. Kroeger told Launch that Paul put another idea in motion instead. "
Darrell's wife, Rita, got in touch with us & just started sending us all
this stuff, like, him playing so many different solos, and we pieced this
solo together & it fits the song so well," Chad said. "& it's kind of spooky
to be singing about him, you know, your friend who's gone, and then have him
play this shredding, amazing guitar solo." Kroeger roars in the song's
chorus: "How could you take his life away (What made you think you had the
right?) How could you be so full of hate (To take away somebody's life?)
When I heard you let him die and leave the world, I wondered why/ I sat and
home and on my own, I cried alone & scratched your name in the side of a
bullet." "Side of a Bullet" was written three months after Abbott was shot
to death by a disturbed gunman during a December 8, 2004 Damageplan concert
in Columbus, Ohio. Kroeger told Launch how he felt when he heard about
Abbott's death and how he's dealt with it since. "I was very, very upset &
really angry," he said. "I couldn't understand why somebody would do that. I
stay in touch, I call Vinnie and just try and keep his mind off of things.
It's nice to let him know that he could just call you up & talk about
anything it doesn't have to be about Darrell & just be there for him."
*TWISTED METHOD*
former guitarist Andy Howard was reportedly found dead in his bed Friday
afternoon (September 16). He was 23 years old. Howard left Twisted Method
back in May, citing his desire to take care of his twin girls at home as the
reason for his departure.
According to The News-Press, Twisted Method were one of only two rock acts
to originate in Lee County, Florida & go on to sign national recording
contracts. The band was signed to MCA in 2002 & released "Escape from Cape
Coma" the following year. In 2003, the band was tapped to perform on the
second stage at Ozzfest. Over the past two years, Twisted Method continued
to tour & bring new "inmates" (as they called their fans) to their asylum of
sound. Their first show back home after Ozzfest at the defunct Neptune's was
sold out & their performance at radio station 99X's X-Fest stole the show
from more popular bands such as Puddle of Mudd & Trapt. Following Twisted
Method's split in June, the group's vocalist, Derrick "Tripp" Tribbett,
formed a new project called Makeshift Romeo with ex-Twisted Method bassist
Derek DeSantis (who plays guitar in the new band). The new group also
includes ex-Motograter bassist Jonny Nailz & former Slitheryn drummer
Tom"T-Bone"
Burke. Twisted Method Ex- bassist Derek DeSantis has issued the following
statement regarding the passing of former Twisted Method guitarist Andy
Howard: "Me as well as Tripp [real name Derrick Tribbett; former Twisted
Method singer, currently in new band with Derek called Makeshift Romeo] &
Ben [Goins; ex-Twisted Method drummer] appreciate everyone's messages &
comments sent about Andy. His passing is sudden and shocking; no one is
taking this harder than us three and his family. All of your guys' support
shows us the constant love & attention we are more than grateful to receive.
Andy would be happy to see all of the inmates/friends that have responded to
this."
*MÖTLEY** **CRÜE**:*
the Associated Press has confirmed that singer Vince Neil broke his leg
performing at a concert Friday night (Sept. 16).
The band was about five songs into the concert at downtown Atlanta's Philips
Arena when Neil leaned over to sing along with the audience & slipped off
stage, said Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Sylvia Abernathy. He was
treated at Piedmont Hospital & released Saturday, hospital spokeswoman Diana
Lewis said. Police also responded to an unrelated incident involving a man
who injured himself after jumping from the fourth floor of the arena into
the audience. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
In other news drummer Tommy Lee makes a cameo appearance in the new video
from country-rocker Keith Anderson. The clip of "XXL", by award-winning
director Trey Fanjoy & produced by Don Lepore for Picture Vision,
incorporates multiple vivid dramatic scenes interwoven with energy-charged
live performance footage of the Arista Nashville recording artist & his
band. In one scene, Lee is surrounded by glamorous nurses & takes on an
OBGYN (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) role and delivers a baby boy as he
lip-syncs, 'Oh, mama, he's a XXL!!' In another vignette, Anderson joins
three gorgeous southern belles & one ugly humongous steer with a huge
Texasflag in the background. Former Tennessee Titans football
celebrity
Eddie George takes on a "youthful" role & joins some pre-teen football
players in another hilarious "XXL" scene. In recent news A video clip of
Mötley Crüe performing their classic song "Home Sweet Home" during last
weekend's "ReAct Now: Music & Relief" MTV special, featuring guest vocals
from Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, has been posted online at
http://www.motleyforum.com/gallery/albums/video/react_now.wmv In addition to
performing the track on live television, Mötley Crüe & Bennington recorded a
new version of the song at CMT studios in Nashville. All proceeds generated
through sales of the track will benefit the Hurricane Katrina relief
effort.s
Mötley Crüe won't let a little muscle tear get in the way of its rock 'n'
roll juggernaut. Despite an erroneous wire service report that he has broken
his leg, the band's lead singer, Vince Neil, partially tore the medial
portion of his calf muscle last night five songs into Crüe's performance at
the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA. The show was part of the band's ongoing,
successful "Carnival of Sins" world tour that began last February. Vince's
leg gave out shortly before intermission, and the band was forced to end the
concert early after Neil was taken to a nearby hospital. Although he was in
a great deal of pain at the time, Neil is expected to make a full and quick
recovery, according to his doctors, who nevertheless urged him to take some
time off. The band intends to return to Atlanta to make-up the show. Tickets
from Friday night's show will be honoured at that time. Ticket holders
should contact their point of purchase for more information or refunds. "I
just felt something snap in my leg," recalls Neil. "I just couldn't go on."
Nevertheless, Neil is planning to return to the stage Sunday night (Sept.
18) in Memphis, TN, for Mötley Crüe's show at Desota Arena, despite doctor's
orders. No shows will be cancelled. "I'm a trooper," said Neil. Said the
band's Nikki Sixx: "He will be able to perform, but can't really jump around
until it heals. Luckily, we have a few days off here and there for him to
recover." The Mötley Crüe tour has been the unexpected success story of the
live concert year. After six years apart, the band reunited earlier this
year for a tour that has been one of the biggest box office attractions of
2005. Following the end of their own U.S. tour in October, the Crüe will
join the Rolling Stones for shows in Portland and Seattle, then Mötley Crüe
will go on to Australia and Japan. After their appearance on last weekend's
MTV/VH1/CMT "ReAct Now" benefit from Nashville, Mötley Crüe will release a
new recording of their hit, "Home Sweet Home", which they performed on the
show with Linkin Park front-man Chester Bennington, a gospel choir and
string section, produced by Desmond Child. (Watch a Windows Media video of
the performance at this location). Proceeds from the song will go to benefit
the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the efforts to rebuild the affected
communities through Red Cross.
Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has posted the following message in his
online diary: "During 'Live Wire' last night Vince's [Neil, vocals] left leg
completely gave out. He said it felt like a snap or he had been hit was
something extremely heavy in the calf. It was right before intermission and
after we finished the song without him, we went backstage where he was
surrounded by paramedics. They said he probably tore something in his calf
and he needed to go to the hospital right away. He wanted to go back
onstage, but to be honest, he couldn't even stand. Finally he was rushed to
the hospital and the report is that he did tear the muscle, but it's not as
bad as it could be. He will be able to perform but can't really jump around
until it heals... Usually those type of injuries take up to six weeks to
heal so he's very lucky. "We have a day off today and tomorrow is a show in
Memphis, then another day off. So that leaves him more time offstage than
usual. We honour the tickets for the show in Atlanta. "Vince feels horrible,
and he wanted to finish the show but I think its better he didn't in the big
picture." From all four of us, we're very sorry and will be back to Atlanta.
No shows will be cancelled."
The Mötley Crüe tour has been the unexpected success story of the live
concert year. After six years apart, the band reunited earlier this year for
a tour that has been one of the biggest box office attractions of 2005.
Following the end of their own U.S. tour in October, the Crüe will join the

*DARK FUNERAL / DISMEMBER*

upcoming GGH (Gothenburg Gore Horror) action-packed comedy-horror film shot
in Gothenburg, Sweden. The film is described as follows: "In the
not-too-distant future, Gothenburg has been invaded by zombies. The police
are powerless and a team of German zombie hunters is called in to solve the
problem & clean up the city. On their way through the streets of Gothenburg
they run into everything from an Italian assassin to some Swedish reporters
on the wrong side of the barricades, [all] while trying to figure out what's
causing the epidemic." "Die Zombiejäger" stars Martin Brisshäll, NickHolmquist,
Christian van Caine, Margareta Strand, Erich Silva, Peter Lihnell, Yohanna
Idah, Mads Koudal, Maud Sjögren, Göran Sjögren, Hyse Gashi, Andreaz Wimmer,

*DREAM THEATER:*
former singer Charlie Dominici has announced that he will be donating part
of the proceeds from the sale of his recently released solo CD, "03 A
Trilogy Part One", to relief aid organizations to help the victims of the
Hurricane Katrina. A statement posted on Dominici's official web site reads
as follows: "In the wake of the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, I, like most
of you, feel a need to help in some way. What I would like to offer is this.
Buy my CD now & 'till the end of September & I will autograph your copy with
a 'personal' message to you. I will also pay for shipping. $10 from each
sale will go to the relief aid orginizations (Red Cross & Salvation Army) to
help the victims of the hurricane. "USA orders are $20 each & overseas
orders are $25. Since I own my own record company I can pretty much break
even with this pricing structure & you guys get a cool deal while we all are
doing something together to make a difference!" Regarding the musical
direction of his new solo CD, Dominici had the following to say in a recent
press release: "If you are expecting this to be another Dream Theater CD or
heavy metal sounding, then you will miss the point. Although it is not a
folk album, it is not heavy metal either. It is simply a concept album which
is played on an acoustic guitar & sung solo with no other instruments
outside of an occasional harmonica. If Dream Theater fans will listen to
this CD with an open mind, they will be able to appreciate the music & the
story much more than if they listen to it looking for something else that
they are expecting to hear. If they don't, I think they will be missing out
on something they might have found interesting and entertaining."
*BLACK LABEL SOCIETY:*
has parted ways with bassist James Lomenzo (ex-White Lion, David Lee Roth,
& Pride & Glory), informed sources have told Blabbermouth.Net. A replacement
bassist has yet to be announced. Black Label Society will be embarking on a
U.S. tour with Brand New Sin beginning in mid-October. A double-disc
compilation, entitled "Kings of Damnation - Era '98-'04", is due on October
4 via Spitfire Records. "Kings of Damnation" is a look at the evolution of
Black Label Society main man Zakk Wylde's progression as a musician,
beginning from his solo venture with Pride & Glory & Book Of Shadows,
leading up to his final album for Spitfire, "Hangover Music Volume VI". Disc
2 features unique takes on a number of well-known songs, including Procol
Harum's "Whiter Shade of Pale", The Beatles' "Come Together", & Neil Young's
"Heart of Gold". Black Label Society's latest album, "Mafia", has sold
169,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
