Wow!You were at the Huntridge show last year
too,huh?Bottled Heineken is great,but at $3.00 a domestic,I
shudder to think what they got for those. We usually go to
the tavern across the street for dollar drafts and
the taco joint across the other street is great
too.Thats about the only good thing about the Huntridge
these days though.I think the no in-out policy sucks
and the little "cage" outside for smoking is
lame.I've seen a lot of shows there but we just got tired
of going there.I think they're suffering since the
opening of the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay as a lot of
bands seem to be booking there and at the Hard
Rock. They deliberately oversold the last NOFX show
to
the point of having to bring in Metro to chase away
kids that didn't have tickets. And probably had to beg
Smashing Pumkins to play, then hyped them as a big "Suprise
Act"!?!I don't know about you, but I don't get too excited
about Billy Corgan!
Well anyway,I guess I can't
blame them for trying, and at least they do allow GWAR
to perform there. The only place that will,I'm
assuming,as Vegas wasn't in on the Ragnarok tour while the
Huntridge was closed for about a year or so due to their
roof collapsing before a Circle Jerks
show.(Unfortunately my wife totalled my car a week before I was going
to drive to Tempe to see them at the Electric
Ballroom.)And the cancellation of the Hard Rock show that I
mentioned previously.
What am I bitching about the
Huntridge so much for anyway?I just moved to No. Cal.,and
will probably never go there again. There is a little
venue around the corner though, called Sanctuary, that
has some cool shows.I missed D.O.A. there right
before I moved but did attend Jello Biafra's spoken word
the night of their grand opening. My longtime friend's
band, the Melvins, are playing there on the 28th,but I'm
sorry to say that I won't be there for that. I saw GWAR
at the Huntridge back in '94 when X-COPS also
performed.I had no idea at the time, however, what a
significant moment in history I was witnessing.
Looking
at some of your posts, you seem very fortunate to
have the resources to follow GWAR as you do.I've seen
them several times as well, but over the course of
about 10 years.I've often dreamed of being able to road
trip with them, but I guess just moving a lot and
seeing them in different places will have to
suffice.
Well,thats all for now,take care!
