What can I say? It was very wet! After raining most of the
afternoon, and into the evening, the show did go on. I have not had
so much mud on me, since I was a child, and did it on purpose.
The kind folks at the festival decided to move the port-a-potty
closer to the stage, because of the rain... bless them! A fork lift
was brought in, and I wish you could have heard the collective
oooooooo when nearing the back of the stage the potty tipped off the
lift. And then, the collective ewwwwwwwww when the lovely odor of
the contents of the potty filled the air! I've never seen anything
so funny, yet disgusting! ewwwwwww
The crowd was awesome! After the rain, the area in front of the
stage was literally a lake! But when they opened the gates, those
folks slid right in, and down front for the show! I took a picture
of the folks sitting down front, in mud up to their ankles! Country
music fans are true blue! From the stage, when the turned the lights
up, the place was packed! A few seats remained way out on the sides
of the grandstand, but wow! What a great crowd!
Ray and Betty Hines were there, as well as Mary Ann Robertson and Pat
(sorry can't remember her last name, but she takes great pictures)
Wish I could have visited with Ray and Betty, as I haven't seen them
in so long. I did get to say a quick hello to Ray when he came back.
Basically, the same show as Boone Co. with the exception of Tommy
Cash. Katrina Elam (sp?) was on this show.
Helen sang back up vocals for Jimmy Fortune, and was awesome! When
it was her turn, she played the keyboard and sang 'I'm not Lisa' 'I
Will Always Love You' and darned if I can remember the other two she
sang. She did sing a bit of 'Darlin' for Ray! :o)
It was a great evening... mud and all!
Smiles!
Susan :o)
